Ignition coil

If you have the ignition coil off of the bike should you be able to get a reading from the spark plug terminal to the blue or black wire out the other end or any reading of any kind with a omh meter... Albert

You should, but it will need to be set on a higher range. 10k or better. Primary wires you need the smallest setting.

Remember to take the spark plug cap so that you are actually reading the coil

If it's a resister cap yes, if not no. A resister cap will have it's own capacity, also read on the higher scale. If you're running a resister cap you have to check it as a third component, caps will short out and the coil can still be fine.

Albert,

The problem could be as simple as a faulty spark plug cap. Some more poking around and measuring resistance ought to tell you what you need to know.

yes when i put the meter on a higher range i now have a reading will poke around some more wont be for a few days the weather is keeping things lets say in perspective ....albert
