For anyone who was following my problems with a non disengaging clutch this is what I found.
After dismantling the clutch about 8 times, filing the burrs off the fingers, checking for smooth operation, checking and rechecking shimming on the disc everything looked perfect - and it was.
Turned out the bush behind the clutch did not protrude past the thin thrust washer which caused the rotor and pinion gears to be crushed between the large inner washer and the clutch hub assembly.
I placed a .25 thou spacer between the bush and clutch ( basically extending the length of the bush) and everything was tickety boo.
I’ll order a new bush but in the meanwhile the bike is finally operational.
