Short answer is that it means absolutely nothing that is useful to us as the end users.
It was used by the original engine builder in the Hodaka factory so that they could match up pistons to cylinders. I'm sure there's more to it than that, but that's what I've come to understand.

Roger’s statement is accurate. All we’ve been told here is that new cylinders and pistons were coded after being spec’d out with a number. So “7” pistons went with 7 cylinders as a best match scenario. Victor
