Can a model98 cylinder be re sleeved? Would you be better off just getting a road toad cylinder? Also can the 2 piece shifter side cover (dirt squirt) cover be replaced with an older 1 piece
"Hodaka" shift cover?

Re: sleeve
As for the question on sleeving a model 98 cylinder, I don't know. They didn't come with a sleeve, so if it can be done I'm sure it would be a lot more work than a cylinder that came from the factory with a sleeve. There are other options, such as having the bore plated, but that would depend on what condition the bore is in now. I'm sure others will also chime in on this issue.
As for putting the one piece shifter cover on a bike made for the two piece ones - I would have to say NO. The mounting points are different and they wouldn't line up.

The cylinder can be resleeved providing you have a sleeve.

. . . and it is my understanding that you actually can mount the single piece mag/shifter cover on a Road Toad engine and ride. I'm pretty sure magneto area sealing will compromised, but according to what I've heard . . . it will work for shifting.

Check out Superior Sleeve. Charley Brown is the man. He sleeved one of my RM250C2's and it continues to take severe thrashing with nary a complaint. Excellent work!
