Wombat seat
Wombat seat
Is the seat from a 1972 Wombat 94 interchangeable with a seat from a 1976 Wombat?
Re: Wombat seat
I don't think so. But others out there more familiar with the later models would know, or might even have tips on making it work.
There's a great part compatibility list on the SH main site - that might be a good place to check.
Also, all the parts in the manuals are coded with 'secret' info - the first two digits indicate the bike model. So if you hop on Paul's shopping site, like I did just now, you'll see that an 03 Wombat has a seat that begins with 97 - from this you can gather that the seat is compatible with a model 97 (Super Combat), 98, 99, 01, 02, and of course 03
Hope that helps,

Re: Wombat seat
They will bolt up the same but the 03 1976 Wombat seat is the same as the 97,98, and Road Toad seats also. Starting in 1974 with the 97 Super Combat model the back mounting brackets are longer and the bottom side of the seat base was made to clear the rear fender as the fender was mounted a little higher to provide better rear wheel clearance. I have used these seats on my Wombat and Combat Wombat models. Mounting a 94 seat on a 03 model, you would have to work with the rear fender on clearing the bottom of the seat. Richard
Re: Wombat seat
The 94/95/96 seats are different than the 97/98/99/01/02/03 seats. The rear bracket mount on the seat pan is longer on the 97 seat. The 97 and later bikes have the rear fender loop bent up higher, so they needed a longer rear bracket mount.
A 97 style seat will work on a 94, but there will be a gap at the rear at the fender.
The 94 seat won't bolt on a 97 and later frame because the rear mount bracket will be too short.
