Forum Changes Explained!
Forum Changes Explained!
Good Morning, Hodakans!
You may notice that the forum is looking slightly different than in the past. It is all part of the transition of the forum from Strictly Hodaka to the Club management! Exciting times for the club! A HUGE thank you goes out to Paul Stannard for his willingness to let the club assume ownership and management of this great community asset.
Dale Dvorak and Myself (Gary Bashor) are currently handling most of the administrative duties, and we are looking at adding some features, as well as modernizing the look and feel just a bit. If you see something you Hate, let us know. Better yet, if you see something you really LIKE, that's even better
If you have suggestions for the forum or the club website (http://www.hodakaclub.org) drop us a comment in this thread or send us a note so we can see what can be done!
Subscribe to this thread for updates as we move forward!

Re: Forum Changes Explained!
Would it be possible to have a link to Hodaka Classifieds from here. It would increase the traffic there and would be a great resource for buying and selling parts.
Re: Forum Changes Explained!
That absolutely can be done.

Re: Forum Changes Explained!
I've tried the Hodaka classifieds.
My suggestion would be to SUBSTANTIALY simplify the process of posting or offering items.
I don't want to short circuit any of the existing parts suppliers. I've used them all.
I do have some pretty nice parts I don't need and would like them to benefit other owners. I don't want to use eBay. And I'd like to clean out the basement shelf they're taking up.
I found Hodaka Classifieds to be a complex crash master that takes your time and then provides an error message & fails to post.
Please simplify and trouble shoot this tool before linking it.

Got it. If there is interest in the HD Classified sit to continue, albeit in a more simplified (and stable) form, I'll get that on the to do list.
I had very little interest really expressed after doing a fair amount of work on it, but would love to see it grow. Been neglecting it as of late.
Thank you for the feedback!

Re: Forum Changes Explained!
Wow, I haven't used the classifieds lately but it worked fine when I did use it. Just lucky I guess.
Re: Forum Changes Explained!
The original Classifieds under SH was for complete bikes only and no loose parts. Is the sale of parts now allowed by the new management?

PS: I probably should have mentioned that I am firmly of the opinion that this Forum is the best Hodaka discussion group on the planet. As such, I want to be sure we take "measured steps" as the transition progresses. I sure don't want any un-intended consequences to jump up and bite us.

Re: Forum Changes Explained!
I can tell you the current web team on this project intend to merely sweep the place up add a few bits of paint here and there (look & feel) update software to maintain member security and control spam, and assure the forum is maintained for the future!
We have a number of ideas to make it a bit more inviting, but like Denny's, the food won't really change!
Hodaka Classified was a proof of concept and its future design and implementation may be part of the club or it may remain a separate entity for members.
We have a lot of what we think are neat ideas, but we would love to hear your suggestions. This is a COMMUNITY forum, by and for Hodaka Owners.
Please be patient with us, as there will be some periods the site will need to be put into maintenance mode for needed work, and if that happens, we will try to post warnings and progress updates on the Hodaka related Facebook pages and groups.

Re: Forum Changes Explained!
First, let me express my gratitude for all the hard work and allocation of resources required to provide us Hodakaphiles with this excellent forum. It is, as far as I can tell, unprecedented to be able to have real expertise (not to mention the input of original designers and racers of Hodaka Motorcycles) brought to bear on the questions and concerns forwarded by those of us interested and preserving and racing these incredibly cool machines. This fact is not lost on me and I do really appreciate it in so many ways. I'm almost embarrassed to mention what amounts to a really trivial gripe. Previously, when hovering the cursor over thread heading, a message would magically appear if there were or were not unread posts within the thread. This feature seems to be deactivated insofar as all threads display the "no unread posts" message. I always liked this feature and would like to see its return if possible. If not, no biggie. Finally, I believe we all owe a significant debt of gratitude to Paul Stannard and Strictly Hodaka for first launching and hosting this forum and more recently, demonstrating the largesse to turn it over to The Hodaka Club for our ongoing pleasure and educational benefit. Kudos to you, Brother!
Re: Forum Changes Explained!
Thanks for the heads up Matt! I will look and see if that is a template setting we have inadvertently changed, or if it is something else. Please note the forum may go through a few changes as we update and fix a few things.
We appreciate the feedback and will see if we can re-enable that feature! Once we do the updates, we may need to modify the template to the newest software. (Keeping things up to date = better security for your personal information, and improved spam protection.

Re: Forum Changes Explained!
Thank you so much. I'd be interested in hearing from others about this matter. I'm wondering if it is an issue related to a recent change in our household's internet provider.
Re: Forum Changes Explained!
If you click on the “quick links”on the top section, you will get the pictured drop down menu, and “unread posts is an option which will then display all threads that have new posts since you looked at the thread.
The other option, which will be a smaller result is just “New posts”which will display only threads that have had activity since you last visited.
Those choices may help get you the same result, but I will look into the issue as well!
