Venturi Dividers

Post by viclioce »

I’ve seen Rich & Greg talk about and show pictures of Venturi dividers. I’m not real sure how they work & what the benefits of using them are. How do they provide more function than the carb slide alone? How do you make them and how are they held in place? Thanks! Victor

the dividers create a more linear power delivery. At any given slide position that aligns with dividers the air turbulence in back of the slide is eliminated , grabbing the air aand directing it under the slide and once. past the slide meeting another divider at the same position not allowing the air to expand into the venturi velocity is maintained creating improved crankcase or cylinder filling , . I have many customers that have had me build several carbs for them. It works. I have done 11 for one customer who races snowmobile flat track who last year won the biggest race in the country at Eagle River Wi. With my carbs and porting with his Kohler 440 triple that made 127 hp and 98 lbs of torque he swears pulling out of the corners is way better. And a little over a month ago Another customer of mine grabbed the 50cc world record at Bonneville wjth his Honda ns 50 First run was 94.5mph second run next day was 89.5 mph , they averaged it at 91.5 mph for the record beating the old record of 85.7 and he actually was clocked at 97 mph passed the traps. But any way he said even with my more radical porting he was able to get rolling with much less clutch slippage that his slower previous engine , the dividers work.

Thanks for the explanation Rich. I was reading yesterday how the dividers create more air speed for fuel vaporization by creating a shape consistent with smaller carb intakes, speeding up the air flow. So, when I’m ready, I’ll send you a carb to be worked on! Thanks! Victor
