Crankshaft Washer?

Having trouble reading the schematics. Does the left crankshaft washer go on the outside of case next to the seal or inside of case next to the bearing? It's Part 29 in the schematics. 98 superrat

Schematics on all models show it the same way, so it is kind of hard to tell, but Clarence has it correct. I have always wondered what good it does as the crank is pulled to the right side of the case when the clutch is tightened. Maybe it is just a safety measure in case the left bearing works a little loose and the thin washer would keep the bearing from dragging the crank.
