I finally aquires a250 ED head to modify for 250SL use I just had to cut the corner of and trim some fins. Now it has a head with a centered combustion chamber much less prone to detonation . I haven't has a chance to ride it yet it toooo hot here .

Compared to what I remember is required to adapt a Suzuki TS250 head this looks like a path of lesser resistance.
I suppose the engineers meant well when they gave the SL an offset spark plug and combustion chamber. I guess they were hoping to keep the temperature down on the exhaust side of the piston.
