Spark arrestor on an ACE 100

Post by sparkyj »

Hi guys,
In the process of getting this 69 ACE 100 going, for off road use, will I be required to fit a spark arrestor to the stock pipe?
That said, my exhaust pipe was laid down at some point and is mangled and flat at the end. Will post pictures soon.
What can I do to make this compliant to USFS off road requirements? Any ideas are appreciated.

The stock pipe IS USFS approved. Looks like you just need the stock innards for the pipe.
Keep the rubber side down!

Looking close, it looks like the innards are there, very oily. ------Clarence

I'm in a similar situation. My 1968 Ace doesn't have the insert at all. Would anyone have a drawing of what the tube inside looks like so I can fabricate one?

Not in Australia. Although some were imported here, they are quite rare. I'm in the classic/vintage bike scene and haven't seen one on the road or trail since the 70s. We might get 4 or 5 on eBay per year if we're lucky.

Hey Bert
where in Australia are you?
might have a spare one (although if not you could probably get one through SH or the other vendors in USA for a lot less than the hassle of making one)
Will have a look for you when I am home(Sydney) next week.

As you can see my pipe isn't going to win any beauty contests. So, if one turns up for a 69, let me know :-)
