Just a question I'm sure many of you have dealt with. I am hoping to get at least the 2 Toads & the Ace done, but don't have titles for them.
I bought all three at once in Colorado and brought them to NM. I'm sure I'll have to have a title history & NCIC clearance done on them. I don't even know if Paul, from whom I bought them ever had them titled in his name.
So my question is this. Is there anything specific I should be on the look out My for going through this process? Thankfully, I do have a title for the Wombat. But the other 3 I don't.
Thanks for any tips you can provide! Victor

Re: Titling for street with no title to transfer
You'll need a bonded title, Victor. In Iowa, this involves producing a bill of sale with previous owner's contact information and the bike's frame number (VIN equivalent), photographs of the bike from right, left, frontal, and rear views, and the cost of issuing a new title for the bike. After the DOT confirms no outstanding liens and that the bike is not stolen, they'll issue a new title and PRESTO, the bike is officially yours. Here, the whole process took about a week. I've done it for four Hodies and the Iowa DOT has demonstrated helpfulness each time. Maybe they are happy to have the revenue from another set of tags and registration coming in. I'm sure there is a similar process in AZ. I'm told that Michigan will issue a new title without all the folderol but have never pursued it.

Not sure what the rules are in AZ, but here in NM, as long as I have a Bill of Sale and the vehicle has a VIN plate it's not too bad. I may be able to get someone I know from NM St. Police to clear it and then just put them in the truck & take them to MVD to get new titles & plates. That's what I'm hoping for anyway! Victor

Oops...Sorry Victor. Apparently I've moved you lock, stock, and barrel to Arizona. I hear it's nice there too. Anyhoo, I'm told that the rules in Iowa are draconian by comparison to most other states. I hope you catch a break!

I have a "Nephew" in St. Police now. He's going to check and see if he can connect me with an officer who can do the NCIC verification and I can probably get the seller to pull a Colorado Bill of Sale, sign it and mail it to me! Fingers crossed! Victor
