Teeny Zundapp, B-25 and Hodaka part Search!

Post by hodakamax »

Just got back from a fun adventure participating in a serious model competition. I am a Hodakaphile at heart but do build an occasional model through the years to prevent Winter insanity. While at the show this Zundapp 1/9 scale motorcycle won its class and more. I thought of my motorcycle friends and shot this picture. Wow!

I actually won second in my class which made it a good weekend! Check out the 1/72 scale B-25.

We also stayed with a lifelong friend and fellow motorcycle racer from our past. We all had a great time at the show and wineing and dinning that evening. This morning we viewed his many Hodaka remnants and such that he seems to have lost interest in through the years. I made him an offer on the whole pile. We'll see, maybe some new projects coming up including cleaning out my Hodaka shed for new goodies. I'm not holding my breath on this one, I give it 50/50 chance of happening. He does save things.

Well that's my report on a fun week-end and potential Hodaka parts offer. I'll keep you posted!

Ps--Some items in his pile are a model 99 RT with a new rebuilt engine I did for him a few years ago, A custom flat-tracker frame, 2 Hodaka 90/100 frames and misc. parts along with a model 93 Rat engine along with many racing parts and spares. Lots of rough stuff from his racing age and time and storage has taken its toll. Sounds fun!

That Zundapp is pretty cool.Nice job on the B-25 especially the masking work on the canopies.I have a b-25 and 24 waiting there turn for the bench.

Your friends hodaka stash could make for a few fun projects and you even have that nice exercise bike tank that could be incorporated into one of them :D .Hope you get it from him.

Thanks mac, I've got to tell you that the canopies are freehand from the days I was steadier. Those were the days!

But nowadays we can get tremendous masking tape and tools.

I've done modeling for my sanity since I was a kid. I feel that it helps brain coordination and thought processes in a child. I usually do/did aircraft and spaceships. And after the new wore off I would bash multiple kits into other creations.

Later on I did RC aircraft and boats in model and scale.

Nice bike and bomber.

Modelling is also good for the old brain. It's a series of challenges just like the Day One project at 1/1 scale. Problems to be solved, final examples to be built and hopefully satisfaction with your example. I'm usually not totally satisfied but I have more experience for the next project. Not only that, your friend's comments improve your self-esteem. Thanks! It's all positive! :)
