1964 Ace 90

Hello All
I recently purchased an early 64 Ace 90 that was in storage since 1968
It is original and complete but required a lot of clean up

After cleaning and coating the tank and cleaning the carb it had spark ,started and ran but with a lot of smoke
Compression is 65 psi
Removed the motor and split the cases to inspect/replace the crank seals
When I removed the right side seal inside the case I discovered 2 thrust washers behind the seal ahead of the bearing

The parts schematics do not show that any washers belong in this location
Is this correct ?
Also when removing the clutch disc there was no spacer installed
Is this possible ?
I am sure I will have many other questions as work proceeds and appreciate all you help and advice

The clutch disk (I'm assuming you are referring to the pressure plate) may or may not need the spacers. Just depends on what the clearances are. If you have the proper free-play on the clutch arm without the spacers, then it's okay. If excess play, you need one or more spacers. As the clutch wears, the whole clutch body moves outward, so, a clutch that is somewhat worn might not need any spacers.

As mentioned above, there shouldn't be any thrust washers in between the seal and the bearing. There is usually one of the crankshaft, between it and the magneto side bearing.

It appears that someone was in there before I arrived
Since there is a thrust washer on the magneto side of the crank I have no idea where the extra washers came from or why they were installed behind the seal
Have to add a spacer to the pressure plate to decrease the free play
Now on to the parts order

Had no clutch cable when I picked it up
Replaced with new and now I know where it should have be routed
