Hi all,
Any chance someone can do this in the very near future
My plate has been sand blasted and I'm looking at getting replica plates made.
Maker has told me they need a scan of the plate (waiting on reply as to what file format )

we schedule all works from September October and begin November, so it is very important to have next days
So will need it sooner rather than later.

Are you talking about the plate attached to the front of the frame where the triple clamp axle passes through? If so, it would be hard to "scan" as it is rounded. I could take a good photo of one, but I don't know if that will work for you.
I was thinking the same thing - photo on the bike is about the only option. I can help with that . . . but only later, rather than sooner. I won't be able to shoot the plate on the steering head till the middle of next week.

Scanning is possible, if you drill out the rivets and press it flat by hand. Then you can scan it, press it back against the steering head to put the curve back in it and rivet it back to the steering head. Just my 2 cents. My original VIN plate was sitting in a container when I got my Wombat. It wasn't attached to the steering head. 2 simple rivets is all that holds it on. ; D Victor

Thank for the replies
This is what the Squirt plate looks like (not mine - I found this on the net). Obviously the numbers will be different between plates.
apparently they need a flat scan for accuracy....though I can't see why a good hi-res picture on the frame couldn't be used?

I don't understand why a digital photo wouldn't work either. But it's easy enough to remove the tag, press it flat & scan it and rivet the tag back on. So make 'Em happy and scan it! ; D Victor
D Victor - Zeek needs a scan as his bike doesn't have the plate. He wants to have one made to put on his bike. Those of us that have ones, they are attached to our bikes and therefore can't be scanned. The best I can do is provide a photo, which Zeek already has. So, the question is - does anyone have one off the frame that can be flattened and scanned? I don't, so I can't help.
If I can get this done it will benefit others as they'll be making a run of them....they're an ePay seller of these and can stamp the numbers on purchase as well.
The need for a flat scan is a pain, but they're insisting it has to be that way unfortunately.
