Front Fork Oil
Hello,
So I got the experts here, so what is good front fork oil and how much? Any weird things on my 1972 B+ or just the standard drain plug on the bottom and fill at the top?
Thanks for any advice and fun horror stories?

Drain at the bottom, fill from the top. I favor BelRay 10 wt fork oil.

Re: Front Fork Oil
I am a trail rider. Listened to a friend of mine and converted from twenty weight oil to seven weight. Gives me a more fork action and smooths out the ride. I like the ride and have thanked him for the suggestion. As far as brand, I buy whatever is cheapest as I think all brands are all about the same.

You guys didn't say how much in each tube! I'm going to have to do a set of RT forks here soon. How much oil is the correct amount? Is it in the manuals? ; D Victor

It's in the manuals and there are many different volumes.

Re: Front Fork Oil
And some models use different fork oil volumes depending on frame #. Oil volume is important since the airspace above the oil adds to the "springiness" of the system. One suspension tuning technique is to vary the fork oil to give more or less air spring.

Thanks guys! I do not have a manual yet. Bike is out at the lake, so I do not have the frame number. It is a 1972 100 B+, and the build tag on the steering head is December 1971. Can you provide a starting point on the amount of oil per leg.
