showing Hodies at Cedar city July Jamboree
Saturday I put My 72 Super Rat and my 70 nickel plated webco 125 Rat in a big car and bike show . It really amazes me at How many people stop and talk about Hodakas . All day I herd that was my first bike, Great bikes , won my first trophy on a Hodaka and on and on. It was a fun time . More people talk about Hodakas than cars , they walk by the cars and look and keep walking when the het to the Hodakas they hang out .

I had exactly the same experience last summer at a giant car show here in Cedar Falls, Iowa. Two classes for motorcycles, H-D and all others. I took a 3rd place trophy with my chrome tank Dirt Squirt and beat a Norton Commando that had the living crap cafe'd out of it and a sweet 400 Cyclone. Got beat by a zillion dollar Ducati and an absolutely pristine CB750 with 3 miles on the clock. Through the entire show I had a continuous and largest crowd around my bikes (DS, CW, and '72 SR) with the exact same comments you described. "Had one, raced one, wanted one, lusted after one" and on and on. Even had a guy whip out a check book and offer $3,500 (no dice) for the Combat Wombat since he raced one back in the 70's and apparently had the bread on hand to indulge in a little impromptu mid-life crisis splurge. Its amazing how these bikes resonate with so many people!

Wow, the bikes are lookin' cool Rich! That is quite the experience taking Hodakas to shows. People stop by either to ask questions or relate stories of the Hodaka they had in the past. How about some various shots of the nickel plated beauty or better yet a report on mods. It looks to have been a fun project.

The same thing happens each year I go to the Nampa, Idaho M/C swap meet and show each spring, I put my old ACE 100 B+ in the back of my pick-up and just let it sit there, in the parking lot. more people ask about that bike and stop and talk about than any other bike or vehicle in the show. PS very few Hodaka,s make the show, for some reason. lots of comments just like the ones listed in this post.

Max here is the nickel plated project. Started with just a rusty frame and vantech front end found in the desert outside of vegas. Mounted foot pegs to frame , swenco swing arm that I also fabed a roller on to keep chain off the nickel and also fabbed a roller into the stock lower chain guard. Used an ace 100 engine that I installed a Webco 125 kit on (NEW) ported it and added a case port and reed valve with 32mm carb. Ace 90 shift cover with 5 speed inners. Koni shocks tha I had on my 70 RAT that I raced as a kid and even used the chrome molly handle bars I have had since then as well as the Thomasalli throttle I had for ever. I keepstuff along time. I will also add that the webco cylinder has the worst stock ports I have ever seen. This bike did win awards at two shows . I aquired new nos combat rims and hubs for it also. Some guy at the show I think was offering me $5000 for it but I told him ita worth more than that to me
