New Wombat 94 carb

Post by Bill2001 »

Replacement VM24 SH-83B carb is about 15mm longer than the original carb, and the rubber air horn/connector tube from the air filter is too long. I'm guessing taht cutting it and shortening it by 15mm would work, but since the part is NLA, I thought I'd ask 'fore slicing...

Bill, before you cut the boot off, try moving the air cleaner back on the bottom. I don't know if you can get 15mm out of it but it's worth a try.

Bill,
Contact SH. They have a custom boot to fit your new carburetor. Here is the link: http://www.strictlyhodaka.com/Airboot-p/943605a.htm

(Grumble) SH needs to list that special boot with the new carbs. Cost me a week plus shipping to get the boot separately. The old boot is worn and starting to crack so I'll snip it and get a replacement.

On a positive note I fired up the engine up with the new carb and it starts better and "blips" crispier...

Ordered the special airboot this AM. I snipped the old boot-- it works but may be prone to slip off the carb, as well as not holding onto the airfilter. Thx for the advice.

Moving the airfilter would have worked, but the ign key would have been relocated, and so on.

I managed to get to a WiFi site and snag all of the Resonator back issues, so that will help a lot.

Sorry Bill,
We need a lot of work on the SH website if we are going to continue to sell Hodaka parts.
Here was the correct listing for the carb with new boot. Again I am sorry for the trouble

Quite OK-- just grumbling after a sweaty afternoon tinkering with the Hodie. :)

The Website is quite good-- with thousands of parts and dozens of bike models we can expect to find a loose thread in the tapestry every so often. Keep up the good work.
