Carb upgrade on my Trials Bike

Post by socalhodaka »

In effort improve ridablity and tuning, we swapped the Wombat 24mm carb with the Superrat 24mm carb. The set up would be a little cleaner and with running advise from Danny Messmore and Greg Watkins things improved 100%.
Here is the new setup

We have a hard to find 3.0 slide, with out this Greg would have modified another on to match

Here's a very cool float valve from old stock.

I still need to fine tune the front suspension next, with such a mix of parts that was use to build it takes time to get it figured out. The forks are Bultaco. Thank you Greg and Diane

You used the Mikuni VM24 SH from the 100cc SuperRat? And your Wombat originally had the VM24 SH-83B (or -83A)? And it runs better with the plain-jane SH carb?

I've got a VM24 SH-83B on my 125 Wombat 94 and although the carb works OK, it's "been ridden hard and put up wet" and I might budget for a new off-the-shelf carb next year and if I can get a bolt-on better carb for the same $$, I will.

That bottom needle in the photo looks boring...

And keep the shiny side up...
