What compression should a stock ace 100 engine have?
Also, what oil should I use in the transmission?

Re: ace 100 compression
Compression ought to be somewhere in the neighborhood of 150 psi (throttle wide open and kick till the pressure stops rising).
There are MANY recommendations which could be made for transmission oil . . . I'm partial to reputable brands of oil intended for motorcycles with wet clutches. Belray 70 or 80 wt is what I use. Wayeeeee back in the 60's and 70's of the previous century, the factory recommendation was for SAE 30WT non-detergent motor oil (the same as you might put in the engine of the family Nash Rambler). You can do SO much better than that today . . . so you probably should. And don't be concerned by the difference between 70 wt gear oil and 30 wt motor oil -- those two types of oil are classified by different viscosity indexes. 70/80 wt gear oil IS nearly the same viscosity as 30 wt motor oil.
