100 B forks

Greetings

Can anyone tell me if 100B forks would work on a 93A?
I know that the internals are different, but I am unsure if they are the same length and if they use the same axle.

Looking at the schematics the only difference I can see part number wise is the 100 B+ shows this difference is #6;

06.1- Item # / Fig. N - Hodaka Part #938753A - Fork inner tube (Beginning Frame B-53413)

Item #2 are the same number which lead same to believe they are the same dimensionally.

Anyone else know?

All that I remember is the first batch of 93s I received had weak fork tubes. They were all replaced under warranty. I have a 93A hand book beginning Frame No. B-53113 that also shows the fork tube as 938753A. The model 93 had 938707 fork tubes which were the weak ones (?) and were replaced by the 100 B+ 938753A tubes. (I think.)

More--I see that a 92B+ had a #938750 fork assembly, a 93 had a #938700 and a 93A had a #938750 that changed to a #938750A on frame # B53413. It looks like they are all interchangeable. WHEW!

The earlier "weak" forks did not have an allen bolt in the bottom that held in the damper rod. The lowers were a one piece design with the damper rod built in. The top triple clamp also had a small ridge around the top, where the forks seated against it (no up or down adjustment to these forks). Because of these differences, the forks are not interchangeable, unless you also change the top triple clamp (and then the whole assemblies have to be used, the individual parts are not interchangeable.) The lower triple clamps were the same so they can be used with either fork (as long as we are talking about the 30mm forks).

When we changed the 93s weak fork tubes to the 92B+ fork tubes under warranty they bolted up with no modifications. I see that the upper fork plate on a 93 and 100B #938701 is different than the 92B+ and 93A (after frame #B53413) with the #938701A upper fork plate. Confusing huh!

I agree with Max. My 100B forks were traded years back for 93 forks, which I never had problems with, and then I traded them out last year for forks that could be 100B or 93A, no telling. No need to change the top clamp, and if the ridge is a bother for you, file it out. Just about any 30mm forks will bolt in.

On my wife's DS we used butter forks. The top triple tree clamp cracked at the pinch bolts, both sides, which was a blessing in disguise. The replacement top clamp is a non-ridged which allowed me to lower it.

Better they should crack in the garage than coming down a mountain somewhere...
