Are These Any Good?

Post by DesertRat54 »

What do y'all think? This is a pair of model 98 cases, and I've got a pair of Road Toad cases with the same. If someone could tell me exactly how this happens, I'd really appreciate it. Probably don't really need 'em but I might keep them as spares. I assume they're still good, but I thought I'd get someone else's opinion before I shelve them with my "good" parts. The mating surfaces are undamaged--in fact, the cases are in great shape otherwise.
Thanks,

My guess would be that some debris (piece of the piston, broken bearing, etc) went through the motor and the connecting rod picked it up and dragged it around the cases.

Hey Bill,

If that is all that is wrong with those cases I would have no problem using them. Like Brian said, something went through the engine and caused this cosmetic damage.

Thanks for your replies, Brain and Danny. Ha, Ha, Victor, you're a funny guy. Thankfully, I've got a couple more cases to put on the good" pile for now. Sorry it's taken so long to get back to this; I've got a lot of irons in the fire.
