Painting Ethics
Painting Ethics
So I have a question about painting my road toad, and it really gets down to the ethics of the whole thing(I'm in an upper division philosophy class ant I think it is starting to bleed into the rest of my life, sorry). In the previous restoration jobs I did with my dad we always repainted to the original color. I know that the road toad came in green, green or green. The question is, if I was to follow a different paint scheme how much of a faux pas would that be?
Re: Painting Ethics
From day one (1965, my first Hodaka purchase), I decided that Hodakas were made to be modified. Why else would there be racing kits and a flood of aftermarket parts? There's nothing wrong with a beautiful restoration and I admire those who do it but for me modification was designed into the whole Hodaka culture. I guess my point is; paint it whatever YOU want. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it! Go for it.

Re: Painting Ethics
When I bought my Road Toad it had these body parts. Definitely a different color but kind of cool. I called it the Golden Toad.

Cool thanks guys, I was thinking about a mat black frame with olive drab body parts, though I just realized that I am missing a part that I did not catch. what is that part with 100 printed on it?

Re: Painting Ethics
Do you want to be the thorn among the roses or the rose among the thorns? I suggest painting it a color you like or a color someone you like likes. Good thing we don't all like the same kind of hat and shoes. I painted my black 1952 125cc Harley candy apple red in 1962 it is black now again. Your question brings to mind Lee's paint jobs they are absolutely fantastic! =====Clarence
Re: Painting Ethics
Paint it any color you like. I think the little cover with 100 on it is a battery cover.

Ivan, you do look fast in green!

Re: Painting Ethics
The only painting ethical faux pas (on my list anyway) would be painting the rims. Motorcycle rims should be wood, chrome or aluminum.

Greetings
Check out the "Hodaka Club" website, and you will see examples of " Hodorses " of a different color.
I personally own several models that don't conform to factory paint spec's-----Just the way that I like them to be.
Have fun and be creative. Post a photo when you get a chance.
