ECHJYA Allegheny National Forest trail 2015
To all off road riders, Hodaka or otherwise;
The ECHJYA Allegheny National Forest trail ride is only a few months away. The date this year is September 19 at the Allegheny National Forest near Marienville Pa. If you put this on your schedule now, you will be in line for a most pleasant experience this early fall on some of the coolest trails around. It is not a difficult ride. No creek crossings. The trails are used in the winter by snowmobiles, so they have bridges. The hills that could possibly erode during rain storms are tiled to prevent erosion grooves.
These are not difficult trails. They are well marked and fun. It is a beautiful ride through the mountains of Pennsylvania.
You need not have a Hodaka to ride. The cost is $10 to register the bike. It does not need to be street legal. Just an ID and a VIN number are required. Check the website at the bottom for any other restrictions.
We will be updating this postings for any addition information. In the past, we have had Mike Perrett lead a Friday road ride for street legal bikes.
Friday night September 18, dinner at:
Bettina's Italian Restaurant
123 Chestnut Street
Marienville, PA 16239
For those arriving,
The closest motel is the Monroe Heights Hotel in Marienville. Nice place. Formally a Microtel.
http://nwpahotels.com/hotels.cfm/mode/details/id/1397
Phone: 1-814-927-8300
The schedule is as follows, subject to change;
7 AM Sept 19, Saturday morning breakfast.
Register at the Ranger Station about 8:00 AM.
Ride the Timberline Trail until about 4 PM. A lunch break will be around noon.
Dinner at the Italian Restaurant.

A new item for this years ANF ride will be that for each rider participating, they will be entitled to pick out one 22"X30" dealer poster of a Hodaka model of their choice, while supplies last.
Also, those wishing to ride the Friday road ride, let me know what time you would like it and perhaps we can work it out so the time is convenient for everyone.

I thought I would announce this again to keep everyone reminded.
There have been some updates.

Single rooms are getting scarce so book now.
The schedule is as follows;

DS,
They have never inspected our bikes. You just give them the VIN number of the bike and $10. They give you a tag for your bike.
Mike has ridden his 175 on the trial with the stock exhaust system. As I said, no one ever inspected our machines.

For any newcomer to the ANF ride, don't look for a Monroe Heights sign, if that is where you are staying, the place still has the Microtel sign along the road.

Also, right down the street is "Ray's Hot Spot". Live rock & roll Friday and Saturday night. "Chaz" on Friday night and "We Speak Canadian" on Saturday night. There is a cover charge though. Chickadee Lavern will not be there this year. I headr she had a prior Penton Group engagement.

Re: ECHJYA Allegheny National Forest trail 2015
Here is a follow up on this weekend's ride;
After a brief shower that suppressed the dust, the group of 4 riders headed out on a great day of riding. Attending were Mike Perrett of oil City, PA riding a CW, Scott Peatman of Deptford NJ, riding a 175 Hodaka, Rick Mott of King of Prussia, Pa riding a CW and Allen Cook of Christiana, DE riding a TY 250.
The riders were all riding just shy of tachophobia. Look it up. Scott rode a little over his head on a down hill section and ended up loosing his 175 into a heavily weeded ditch. He was fine, but he bend his handle bars and turn signal. After a ride of just under 24 miles, we decided to call it a day. Mike suggested we go to the "Hodaka Super Secret Research and Meditation Center" to repair Scott's bike.
This turned out to be a great idea. The bike was repaired with the use of a vise, Kubota tractor, a toggle chain, crow bar and "sledge" (corrected) hammer.
Later we all went to a local Italian Restaurant for a fine meal. After dinner, Mike gave us a choice of vintage Hodaka posters to take.
Here are some photos of the days events. Allen is a member of the Tri-State-Trialers group I belong to. He said he has put this ride on his definite things to do every year. Hope to see more riders next year.
