Re: New Project Wanted

The cheaper the better. I only paid $250 for the Model 03 I bought locally. I'm sure shipping would be expensive so I'm looking for something in the Texas, New Mexico, Colorado & Arizona area. That way I could drive and pick it up. Heck, I'd even take something that isn't a Hodaka! If I had to t...

New Project Wanted

OK. I'm just about done with this Model 03, other than the possible Future Upgrades. So, I'm looking for a project bike. A smaller bike like a 90cc which can be set up to run on/off road. My 13 yr old grandson can't get his leg over the Model 03 I did for his brother. He's too short and his legs are...

Re: New projects from old parts. (picture heavy)

If you find you don't have room for all the complete bikes, I have a tiny bit of space for the last one. My 13 year old (middle) grandson can't ride the Model 03 I rebuilt for his brother. He's too short for the Model 03 and its bigger wheels! ; D Victor

Re: Help..hodaka wombat wont start after rebuild

After my rebuild, I fouled out 5 or 6 plugs before getting my jets and timing set correctly. Buy a wholse box of plugs at the parts store and continue to change them out until Jetting and timing are where they need to be. Then make sure you carry a spare plug and a plug wrench wherever you go riding...

Re: Gear oil

Well AZ, I never said it was non-detergent, just that it had no friction modifiers in it which would effect wet clutches. I agree with you that today's detergents are fairly esoteric compared to those of the 60's & 70's. However, I have used the T6 in my VL1500 fo over 8 years and have over 71K ...

Re: Gear oil

For those who have difficulty finding non-detergent 30w oil, I have a recommendation. We have done a lot of research on the Delphi LC1500/C90 forum and many many of us use Shell Rotella. The Rotella oils are diesel oils with low detergents & no added friction modifiers. The Rotella T1 is a mono ...

Re: Cylinder Work?

How would I know if the cylinder has been modified for Reed valve? I'm not at all familiar with that configureation. I know the piston needs the additional holes in the bottom to let the air mixture through. All I know is both the cylinders I have now have Victory Ports, the big V's which are not in...

Cylinder Work?

I have a Model 95 cylinder which I pulled off the bike. It had a .04 piston and rings in it when the top ring cracked. What I want to know is do I get this bored bigger? Do I send it to a shop to have the cylinder wall reconditioned to a smaller over size or is it more cost effective to find a .01 o...

Paul has what you need! Go to the Strictly Hodaka home page and look up by model number. OEM replacement seat covers are pretty easy to swap out! And there's several shocks to choose from. I have gas charged inverted on mine! ; D

Re: I was given a beautiful 72 wombat

Pull your petcock and check the filter screen, making sure it's not clogged. Also check your fuel line and make sure they aren't real soft and collapsing under a fuel draw. I'm just guessing but the filter screen on the petcock would be my first guess. ; D Victor

Re: Plastic Tank Repair!

Yes it sure was! And I didn't have to buy any new equipment or practice with it to be successful! I was surprised indeed that this one held and worked. I think pushing it through the cracks from the outside to the inside and letting it expand beyond the cracks inside made it hold much stronger. I do...

Re: Plastic Tank Repair!

I'm attaching a photo of the product I used to fill up the hole we had in the KTM 50 SXR's plastic fuel tank! It's about $7-8 from what I remember. It's a 2 part putty, one part wrapped around the second part. All you do is cut off the amount you think you need and knead the piece to mix the two par...
