Re: Parts Washer fluid preferences

I’m looking to make my life easier. My wife bought me a parts washer for Xmas! I want to be able to clean parts I’ve normally taken a very large amount of time by hand with just spray cans of carb cleaner. :ugeek: Victor

Re: 1968 Model 92 Ace 100 Wiring / Lighting Help

I used a Toad voltage regulator on my last Wombat build. It gives a more consistent light for the headlight and no surges to burn the lamp prematurely. :ugeek: Victor

Re: Powder coat RAL # ?

The colors we tend to see on frames and external parts, especially RED, tend to fade and turn more orange than the color new. I have come to like Rustoleum 2X Paint & Primer in the color Apple Red. It is virtually the same color as the Rustoleum Safety Red, but it double coats without crackling,...

OK. Well this is what’s posted on Terry’s website as a Model 92 wiring diagram. Wouldn’t be the first time I was mis-informed by a web posting. I stand corrected. :ugeek: Victor

Re: 1968 Model 92 Ace 100 Wiring / Lighting Help

I’ve attached an Ace 100 wiring diagram for you. Hope it helps. When I wire an Ace, I start at the top of the chart and connect each item, moving clockwise around the diagram. Keeps things simpler that way because you’re only connecting a few wires at a time. If you have questions, let me know. I ju...

Re: ‘71 B+ resurrection……First post newbie!!

Thanks Clarence. I was talking with James Murphy today. He wants my Ace 92 front fender stay. I told him I would trade him for an Ace B high mount front fender. I told him I don’t want to sell parts any more but will trade for something I need. Maybe you have one you can sell him and ship to me? You...

My Next Project…

Last Monday I drove down to Albuquerque, NM & picked up this 250 ED for John Aloi! Bought it from the original owner, who bought it from Weird Harold’s Cycle Center, the 1970’s Hodaka Dealer in ABQ. Still has the Weurd Harold’s sticker on the right front fork leg! The seller even had the origina...

Drove the bike to Amarillo today. Left Santa Fe at 8:15 am. Arrived in Amarillo at 1:15 local time. Arrived back in Santa Fe at 6:30 pm local MST. Long day! But she’s gone to her new home. :ugeek: Victor

Re: ‘71 B+ resurrection……First post newbie!!

So Clarence. My Ace with the black straight pipe and chrome heat shield is frame number 43660. Does this mean it’s an Ace 92A and not a 92B? I added a B headlight & high mount fender because the original headlight was damaged and missing pieces and I didn’t have a complete low mount front fender...

Re: Hodaka Q&A

The first Ace 90’s (759 of them) landed in the US in June of 1964! (Pg. 17!)

Curt Alexander was a machinist for PABATCO & he worked with Harry Taylor on the development of reed valve useage.

Re: Model 03 Lighting issues…

I have 3 of them, but thanks! Turns out that someone soldered the wires on the wrong side of the switch. Replacing the AC/DC switch with a known hood brought power to the lights. Also, I figured out I accidentally plugged the front brake light switch into the horn power wire, so I corrected th...

Re: Model 03 Lighting issues…

Quick thought…. If I do a bypass wire, skipping the voltage regulator, will that send power to the lights, as a way of testing the voltage regulator for functionality??? Not sure if there is a way to test one with a multi-meter. If there is a way, please let me know how to test it with a multi-meter...

Re: Model 03 Lighting issues…

Well I pulled the AC/DC switch to check it today. For some reason, I thought the brown wire had been soldered on incorrectly. But it appears to be fine. Either that or all 3 wires are on the wrong side??? Can anyone tell me, if the AC position on the switch is mounted facing forward, are the wires o...

Re: Model 03 Lighting issues…

Ed. I reterminated all the wire ends with new bullet connectors, something I always do. I chose, initially, to retain the original fuse holder because it still appreared functional. But the vibration caused by kicking the bike over caused the dry plastic fuse holder to fail. So, I had to replace it,...

Re: Model 03 Lighting issues…

Well I figured a couple of things out. First, the tail light still works. But it was staying on even with the key in the off position and ran the battery down dead. I found my 6v battery tender, but it appears to have stopped working. It did not recharge the battery enough to power even the tail lig...
