Accommodations at Hodaka Days
For those who have been there, can anyone tell me if there is RV parking on or near the site, perhaps somewhere in town? Trying to decide whether to drag the mobile apartment building along, or seek shelter elsewhere. If there is RV space, are there hookups or is it dry camping?

Re: Parts for sale/Wanted
Oh. Maybe we need another sub-category of parts for sale. Or, this may cut too close to the parent function. Paul has final say.

Re: Combat Wombat Tech Specs
If you are considering swapping the rear hub, the cushioned hub uses a larger diameter axle so you will either require a later swingarm or you will need to modify the one you have. As for getting the later cushioned hub parts, it should be fairly easy to find finding second hand stuff. Of course yo...

Didn't know that. Still finding my way around the website. Thanks.ddvorak wrote:Just FYI, Paul has the tech specs posted online for the various models. When you select the shop schematics for a specific model, there is a link to view the specs.

Re: Combat Wombat Tech Specs
I found the primary gear for the 97 on SH website by wandering around in engine parts. Haven't seen one before, but there it was. Ordered. As for the rear hub, that would require a transplant of many parts, including sprockets, spacers, and brake parts, not all of which are available over the counte...

Re: Combat Wombat Tech Specs
Thanks. That answers most of my questions, but raises another. I notice that the Wombat had an O/D 5th gear, with a 19 tooth countershaft gear as opposed to the 20 tooth on the Combat. Yet, the schematics show the same mainshaft assembly for both bikes. Trying to figure out how the same mainshaft co...

Combat Wombat Tech Specs
Does anyone have tech specs for the Combat Wombat? Specifically looking for the primary gear ratio, tooth count for main and counter shafts for first through fifth, stock final drive tooth count on sprockets, and gear tooth module for the main and countershaft gears.
Thanks.
Thanks.

Re: Mods from the present
I will take a photo once it is back together. In the shot above the HT3 terminates under the tank and there are no number plates over the air box. It was together just a week ago, but I didn't think to take a photo of the running bike before I tore it apart. Good thing I took it apart though. Severa...

Re: Unexpected modification- transmission swap
I have an old, non-cushioned rear hub, four bolt system from, I believe, a model 93. Primary gears between crank and main shaft are not cushioned. Didn't know there were any.

Unexpected modification- transmission swap
Unanticipated mod: Starting to put the model 97 engine together today, I discovered that the transmission in the 97 engine I bought is not a 97 transmission, but out of either a 100 B or Super Rat of the same vintage (1970 - 1972). Main shaft, countershaft gears, and kick start gear were replaced as...

Might have been a zinc wash, but whatever it was, it was thin. If you want to paint one now, I would suggest Argent Silver wheel paint, or hyper silver wheel paint.

Thirty minutes before the start of the 1974 Daniel Boone Hare and Hound, a race official came around the pits and warned us that there was "water on the track." Now just what the heck does that mean? It had been raining in Kentucky for at least two days, and the creeks done rose, so they h...

Cleaning Hondabond4
Recently there was some discussion on how to remove Yamabond 4. Since I am currently rebuilding my newly acquired model 97 which was sealed with either Yamabond 4 or Hondabond 4 (they appear to me to be the same stuff), and because I intend to reseal it with Hondabond 4 because that is what I can ge...

Except for the DG pipes, tires, a replaced stator and electronic volt regulator, an LED headlight, and a new seat cover, the RD is original. You cant read the license plate in the photo, but it is a 1981 Iowa plate. Both bikes were toted around the country over the years, and both spent 20 years sit...

Re: Mods from the present
Since Tom was so close, and no one else wanted to guess, the frame and swing arm are Ace 100B, sold as a 1971, converted to Webco 125 for the 1974 season with lengthened swing arm, laid down shocks, brackets cut off or drilled for lightness (must have saved all of two ounces). Recently, however, con...

Re: EXHAUST PIPES
Without taking dimensions, it is impossible to say what a non-stock pipe will do for your machine. Although Hodaka exhaust systems are not the most technical pipes on the planet, all expansion chambers have a dramatic effect on performance. You can drastically change the power curve with a pipe chan...

Re: Six Volt - Twelve Volt Conversion?
As much as I really hate admitting I am wrong, in this case, I am wrong. The headlights ran AC in the normal position and DC on the emergency position. Had to dig out the original owners manual for the 100B, which was filed away under historical stuff from another century. Bullfrog is right. Photos ...
