Re: Look what I found!!!

Victor, that looks like the later style toaster tank Super Rat air box which would be correct for that model. The pie plate air cleaners were on the earlier Super Rats.

Re: Seat pan repair....

Is there even enough metal to take a weld? I'd start looking for a replacement unless you are building the guy a man cave bike that will never be ridden. Strike that. Get a replacement under any circumstances. That pan is toast and can never be made reliable.

Re: New Ace project

I know this is pretty shadetree-ish, but it worked just fine. I built a little wood cut-out deck out of some scrap 2x4 so that the bowl gasket surface of the top was completely supported and then drove the inlet barb in with my drill press. This operation, of course, is performed with the bowl remov...

2020 End of season update

You STILL can't fill a front tire through the rim lock bolt. I can't confirm this holds true for the rear, but I assume so. As an aside, you still CAN jam a valve cap on a rim lock bolt. That was a muddy race - lets say.

Re: 1976 Hodaka Road Toad, Stuck KickStarter

Yours looks to be a Model 99 Road Toad. The link you attached shows the proper overhaul kits. The same rebuild kit works for both the Model 99 and 02 Road Toads so ya just can't go wrong. Good fun coming your way.

Re: 1976 Hodaka Road Toad, Stuck KickStarter

For one, the kick crank in on backwards. It folds inward to stow right behind the cylinder and swings out to kick. The rings might be frozen to the cylinder wall. Fill the cylinder with a good penetrating oil and set it sit for a few days, see it if will move, let it sit, try it again, etc. Even if ...

Re: Clutch issues....

I'm not even sure, regardless of the screw length, if you could tighten the clutch pack screws enough to "fuse" the discs and plates. I think the heads would snap off if you didn't strip the screw first.

Cool!!! I've always been something of an innovator. My motto: "Give me a Dremel and I'll give you a big pile of grinder dust". Actually I do have a tech tip. When is the deadline for submission to the next edition?

Re: Tight piston wrist pins

You see, this is why I use a wooden dowel. You can easily cut and sand it to fit perfectly, and if you break one in the woods, there are replacements everywhere. Those big, fat pencils we used in first grade are also perfect and as a bonus, the smooth paint finish allows it to glide into place easil...

Sweet bike. I have one of those Bassani pipes that will need a header mod. How do you like it on a 100cc motor? Mine was off a 250, but it is the same as what I can see in your picture. Cool bike, by the way.
