Testors olive drab in a rattle can is pretty close. Hobby shops would have it.

The shifter case zerk just hits the ratchet mechanism. The shift balls are swimming in oil.

Re: Snap ring removal...

Hi Victor. I'd think twice about reusing an old snap ring - especially one that has been sprung and reshaped. Unreliable. Happy New Year!

Re: Christman luck

My daughter was expecting a Hello Kitty necklace making kit and ended up with a box of B8hs spark plugs. Object lesson here: open the box for content confirmation, the rebox and wrap. It took 19 years of higher education for me to figure that out.

Re: Model 99 Electrical Questions

Look at the socket. If it is for a single filament bulb, ground one of the wires to the frame (which may be possible within and through the blinker shell ideally). If its a socket for a two filament bulb, then connect to either wire and tie off the other. The common negative is already provided by t...

Cool. Super Rat. I can't expand your picture but I see a 4-bolt manifold and maybe fluted cylinder head. That bike was born to race. I've rode some hare scrambles and enduros where only a tail light was required. That probably accounts for the electrical system. The rest are cool period hop-up and s...

Re: Case Reed 125 Hodaka Project

Just wondering here, Pop. If you lay the shocks down, I would think that would change the vector of force acting on the swinging arm pivot point. In other words, as the angle between the shock and the arm becomes more acute under compression, the force on the pivot point would be more aft than it wo...

If the fork slides easily through the bottom clamp from below and the top clamp from above, then triple alignment is the issue.

Then I would explain to the owner the risks involved including the potential for additional expense if the operation is unsuccessful. If the owner is interested in a rider more than a 100 pt concours de elegance resto, he may want to just let that sleeping dog lie.

Re: Resonator; how many would like to see a Hodaka eng., or restorer of the month award given

I think these are all great ideas, Bruce. Celebrating the bikes, the people who designed and perfected them, and the many folks who now keep them alive through offering parts or service and those who continue to wring then out on the track is a terrific idea. I like the notion of the focus on the pe...

Re: How do you ship an unassembled Super Rat?

Torch, wooden wedges (shim stock works great), a little hammer, and a LOT of patience. I have bent fins on many rides. It took me about 12 cycles of heating and tapping to get just one straightened and I proceeded to snap it off about a month later. I leave them all alone now. That little bend on yo...

250ED headlamp

Hi all. I'm having difficulty (that's putting it mildly) sourcing a new headlamp for a 250ED. Is anyone aware of an alternative to the original incandescent PAR-type lamp? Thank you.
