Re: Source for complete bike?

Calling Terry directly at Hodaka parts is a great idea. Even though the official used bike department has not launched, I'd throw some coin on Terry having a project bike or thirty he'd be willing to sell you directly. Nothing ventured, nothing gained I say.

Wow Clarence, the last four digits in your phone number are the same as those of our family homestead. I always knew we had a special connection.

PS- the exchange in our hometown is 266. pretty close there too.

Re: 78 Wombat 125

Hmmm...that may be a Combat Wombat. At least it has a Combat pipe. Cool. I'm not seeing a '78 model, but it could be a cool bike built on an 03 frame. Still cool.

Re: Source for complete bike?

I would stay tuned to Hodaka-Parts. There has been a persistent teaser regarding a used/project bike department on the HPI site. You'll get a square deal and all the support you could possibly need from them. The question is when. Whenever that is, I'm sure it'll be great.

Re: 94 wombat exhaust compatibility

There were two basic mounting styles of the pipes for the 100/125 cc bikes. Those with a threaded nut incorporated with the pipe that threaded directly onto the exhaust spigot and those with the more usual slip-fit coupling held in place with springs. The latter style require a pipe joint (PN 939192...

Re: Rear Wheel Question....

Stuff the well with rags and wrap the entire rim in old tee shirts or what not. Now soak the whole shootin' match with Evaporust. Presto. The main point is to get the thing out of the Evaporust, rinse it off, dry it, and hammer it immediately with WD-40. Flash rust over is annoying.

Re: Hodaka 250 rear brake shoes

I've heard of building up or wrapping the cam for purposes of increasing, above spec, the force exerted on the shoes for improved braking. Not for improving no brakes to not passable, but detectable brakes. Could there possibly be an issue with the cam rod? I'm not sure what the differences are betw...

The amazing part is that it doesn't appear to be thrashed or rusted out. Cool. Probably a motocross build.

Re: SuperRat Fender set...

I'm probably the only moron on the planet who still races a 93B with the original stainless steel fenders. Can't help it. I love the look (and ride like a guy who does not want to crash). All the smart people have taken them off and replaced them with PPs or UFOs - or a zillion other brands. They ar...

I'm sure you have a Dremel tool, Thrown. Please don't think I was questioning the depth of your bench. It's just that...er...when it comes to some of the more, shall we say "off-label" experience in ill-advised, yet oddly ineffective applied Dremel-ogy, I'm kinda the big dog around here. Y...

Re: Slow Build

Kick roller retainer sacked/fractured with loss of bearings would do it. You'll find that when you open the engine cases. It's all academic actually. You are opening the cases anyway so the truth will be revealed in 3-D at that time.

 All you need is a Ma Deuce mounted on the stem. The "motor" box looks like it'd hold a 4-5 foot belt of 50 cal. Now you have a full-blown, combat-ready assault bicycle.

I had a KX-250 of that period. Then, as now, bike faster than pilot. I couldn't dial the rear suspension. Looks like you have a better set-up. The forks were great with 10wt. Looks sweet.

Re: Ace 100 exhaust

Hopefully if the used parts department on HPI comes to fruition, there may be a source for the late style pipes. Otherwise, they come up from time to time on ebay. If you have or know someone with good welding skills, your options improve. Its best if the complete, iconic Krizmann Ace 100 Spark Arre...

 I thrash that 93B and that well-braced frame, with the Hodaka Dave reinforced/elongated swing arm and modded forks takes it like a champ. That was a good improvement between 93a and b models.
