Re: Rebuilt Super Rat Compression

Head nuts properly torqued? Spray some soap solution over the head, kick it over slowly, and observe. Simple top-end leak-down test. Check all the sites the Captain mentioned including any connections built into your compression gauge.

Re: 93 Super Rat leaking forks

Got it. Sorry. I misread your post. Are there any irregularities, defects, or corrosion on any of the involved surfaces? Additionally, is it leaking at rest or does the leak appear only after riding the bike. One or both forks? If only one, simple solution - compare part by part. Something is differ...

Re: 93 Super Rat leaking forks

It is good practice to change all the o-rings at once. Even if the look and feel ok. Easy fix to confirm the problem.

Re: Road Toad #99 auto lube

Believe it or not, that info is on here too. Type "downloading photos" or "picture attachments" in the forum search bar. Both threads provide good information. One of the most important steps in adjusting the oil pump is to first confirm the oil pump is functioning. For that mane...

I'm sure you probably checked, but are the chain tensioners adjusted symmetrically?

Re: NGK BR8HS vs B8HS

You're guys are not alone. I think running resistor plugs in motors designed for traditional plugs only becomes a problem if there are other weaknesses in the ignition system interfering with a good, strong spark from the secondary coil.

Re: NGK BR8HS vs B8HS

Yes, BR8HS is the resistor version of the B8HS. The reason for introducing resistor spark plugs (and wires) in the evolution of internal combustion engine ignition was to decrease the electromagnetic interference (EMI) of radio signals and such by nonresistor ignitions. The effect is akin to running...

Re: Reed inlet

Hey Clarence, on my piston port motors that have been ported for reed induction, I always am. :) Eeh, I take that back. I'm running the stock chamber on my reeded M95 CW but, to quote a reasonably decent tuner "it is a pretty good pipe".

Re: Reed inlet

Without changing carb or piston, you could fit that in between the carb and cylinder it you cut back the air boot. That would get you next to nothing in terms of a meaningful performance upgrade. To get the maximal benefit of converting to reed induction requires such modifications as a larger carbu...

Based on the day-glo, suitable for blacklight action colors, mind bending, highlarious blurbs, and general content otherwise, I'd say that was a creative atmosphere in that room. And I agree, I need to know more from Clarence regarding the Tule Tiger situation.

Re: 1970 Super Rat- Carb Woes

That is a Mikuni VM carburetor. A shot down the venturi would be nice for further identification. If you have a decent caliper, measure the bore. That will determine what you have and the rebuild kit you'll need.

That will never happen here. I'm in the middle of "The Summer of M94 Wombat Love". As mentioned in other threads, I spent a week with it in MN deer trailing/fire roading in June and its my current daily rider. Mine is bone stock. Its the perfect marriage of formand function. The induction ...

I'm not lining up on the rubber part preservation. I think every rubber part on the bike is shot. The good news is that it is all available. Cool.

PS- get yourself the Official Hodaka Wombat/Combat Wombat Workshop Manual. One of the best technical publications I've ever seen. ...
