Re: B+ clutch pressure piece

The height of the clutch varies when the plates get worn it gets taller. It's possible someone shaved the pusher piece shorter. As long as it works then it must be ok then.

Re: B+ clutch pressure piece

The longer one. The short one is likely one of the kick starter rollers for the one way clutch there.

Re: 5th gear issue

I cannot help but join in on this discussion, as I too have suffered from this malady. I'm sure not all cases have the same root cause, but here's what happened to my model 95 Combat in about 2008. Stuck in fifth gear while racing. Added o ring between motos, and it worked for the rest of the day. N...

Re: OSM Drops Harry Taylor Cup

We already have this event at Hodaka Days. It needs all your support to survive. Please consider racing in the Hodaka scrambles, on the Harry Taylor track in Athena. The club is 100% invested in this, and we need riders to keep it going. God Bless our late friend Robin Hannah, who thought the CZ and...

Re: HD 20th

Clarence: This is a very special bike, that I built in 2008 and have been developing ever since. The engine work is by Rich Gagnon, and it uses a 38 mm mikuni with vanes in front and back. It uses a case port, and modified o3 Womabt head, which was milled .060 thousandths, and has grooves cut in it....

and I finally won the grand prix! First time winning the gp since 2003. This time I get my name on the Jim Pomeroy trophy. I can hardly wait to see it in the Athena public library. It felt like a divine intervention, as allot of things had to go my way to pull this off, and they all did go right, ju...

The one inch longer tubes are model 97 and 98. You have two different model fork tubes.

Re: Never ending Ace trials project

Hey, I like your bike. The exhaust is really neat! I have an Ace 90 trials bike that is pretty similar. They run damn good with that Ace 90 pipe on there. You can fit a modern trials tire such as the Dunlop D803, if you jack the tire over to the right with the spokes. I do it on the bike, so you can...

Re: Case Reed 125 Hodaka Project

Since my name was mentioned, I thought I would comment on the Honda CR 125m forks I run. They are 36 mm, from a 1976/1977 CR 125m. They had 7 inches of travel originally, but mine have had the damper rods shortened by 1 inch. I did this by carefully measuring the inch, and cutting them with a tubing...

Re: Off Topic - sort of-

Bad reeds cause lean running, and hard to start. They could actually be bad. Inspecting them is best if you can. Also check or get a bigger pilot jet if it sounds lean. Of course it could have a bad crank seal too.

Re: Pre-mix ratio - break-in versus "broke-in"

I'd stick with 32:1 indefinitely if you plan on sustained high rpm high load riding such as street riding. The thinner oil mix ratios work best in short burst scenarios, such as observed trials, where there isn't so much heat build up. Red line is damn good oil, but at 50:1 I had wrist pin bearing f...

Uncle Whitey's memorial ride and ash scattering

Will be held in Clarkston Washington at 10:00 am, on September tenth. We will ride south from Grumpy's tavern, in Clarkston Heights, and head for The rattlesnake grade, south of Asotin. His favorite restaurant is Boggan's Oasis, at the bottom of the Rattlesnake grade, which we will pass by on the wa...

Re: clutch question for the pros! and more!

Take a good look at the bushing on the clutch. If it will not release, but loosening the clutch nut makes it release, the bushing is apple cored and effectively too short. I would start there.

The new Brumby does work pretty well. I managed to hold my own against the incredible pool of talent there. Fifth in the Pomeroy cup race, and first in 125 vintage expert. Here are some pictures to give you an idea what went on there. This is the rider roster, not the results. Results are 1 B Glover...

Inside the engine of the new 125 Brumby. Note the JB weld in the transfer area. This is where the cases have been welded and the transfer passages dramatically enlarged.
