The new little race bike getting fired up for the first time. This was with the jets the carb came with. After this was filmed, I chaged the brass several times, and she sounds much better.

The Pomeroy memorial challenge 125 series
First round of the three round series is April 2nd, at Boise Idaho. This class will be crammed full of some heavy hitters. Besides the usual suspects, there will also be Broc Glover on a 125 Honda, Danny Turner on a Ted Boyko/Mike Buschat tuned Monark 125, possibly Chuck Sun, if he can borrow a bike...

Re: Yet another Jetting question
The slow to return to idle thing just screams air leak. Are you sure the main seals are ok? I recomend really giving this a close look. Float level can cause stalling at idle if it is too high. One sure fire way to know if it is too high is as follows. Get the machine running at idle and get the fro...

Re: Reed Valve Super Rat
Sorry, but at minimum you would need to use a non reed piston, as the windows cause backwash, without a reed it won't even run. Reed manifolds can't be that expensive. You just need to connect with the right person.

Re: Whitey Hartman has passed away
There was a wonderful celebration of life, and many people who loved him showed up. After things wound down, Jerry Carter, Heidi and me went out to Anatone, hauling our Wombats out there in a van, then we unloaded at the top of the Rattlesnake grade, and rode our bikes down to Boggan's Oasis, on the...

Re: Whitey Hartman has passed away
The ride has been cancelled because "it's too cold", so it's down to the lunch deal at Grumpy's. They said most likely the ride will take place in June. I can see a mile away it will be held the same weekend as Hodaka days. Mark my words. Whitey has been involved in the past with an organi...

Re: Worn carb needle
Many years ago when I got my first Hodaka, an Ace 90, someone had bent the slide (metering) needle, probably installing the slide. These were the old ones with the idle speed adjustment on the top. Apparently after running it like this for years, the needle jet metering hole was worn oblong. You cou...

Re: Whitey Hartman has passed away
For anyone considering attending Whitey's celebration of life, here is what I know now. Grumpy's is in Clarkston btw. Here is the message I received. the "service" is all set for the 24th at noon. They're all meeting at Grumpy's for lunch, followed by the group ride to just past Bogans to ...

Re: Cluttch issues
At the risk of sounding like a braggart, this might be as good a time as any to mention that I have sewn up the Pacific Northwest championship for 2015, aboard the Rich Gagnon, Ron Liddle, Jay Lael built Wolverine. :) I did this simply by racing as many of the races as I could, rarely winning first,...

Re: Cluttch issues
Funny you should mention that. He and I have raced quite a bit this summer, and I have been super careful, not to crash him, BECAUSE I never have forgotten how it felt that time way back when, to take YOU out. I was sick to my stomach. You were supposed to shut the throttle, but you didn't. At the t...

Re: Cluttch issues
Yes, Kevin. I have the thrust washer fitted, and it actually isn't blue, just a trick of photography. I think once the rotor gear is broken, the pieces start to rub. I am considering an idea thought of by our Captain Ed. To fit a narrow ring on the outside of the gear, at the end with the internal t...

I thought some of you might enjoy this photo Thank you all for your kind comments, and remembrances of Whitey. Once plans come into place for his memorial event, I will post here as soon as I know anything. Tenativley at some point, his ashes will be scattered over the river by Boggan's Oasis, south...

Whitey Hartman has passed away
Uncle Glenn (Whitey) Hartman passed away in a Lewiston Idaho hospital, after being hospitalized with intestinal blockage, which turned out to be stage 3 cancer. The growth was removed, but the cancer had spread to his lymph system. He passed away at 8:30 pm, on Friday, October 9th. God Speed Uncle W...

Re: Fork brace for Ceriani front end
There are different types of ceriani forks, some with single lugs, with single threaded 8mm holes, on front and back of each tube, and others which are similar to betors, from a trials bikes, with slab shaped brackets containing two holes on front and back of each fork leg. If you have the Penton ty...

Here are the remnants of the clutch rotor gear after two motos at Washougal. I should note that the pinion gear on the crankshaft was replaced with one that fit nice and tight on the clutch rotor gear.

Ed, I will work on that, or just mail you the pieces. :) I'm at work today and the pieces are at home. I am kind of excited to share what may have been obvious to those of you with intuitive thinking, but I just now figured out! Simply assemble the clutch cage and the aluminum cover, then slip the c...

Re: Cluttch issues
The latest info I have come up with is that, The 6mm flat washers placed under the clutch springs improve the holding power and provide a more positive feel. I have done this to the model 94 and the model 95 clutches to great effect. The Ace 90 (smaller diameter) springs will not fit inside the smal...

Re: Day One - New Project
The idea of an expansion chamber on a trials bike is not new. Beta produced these bikes in 1984, and was considered , "way ahead of it's time". Now in present day the idea seems to have been mostly scrapped. Most modern bikes use a two or three stage glass pack. Power band hits are not con...

Re: Washougal VMX
Brian: This bike has the case port in the center, which joins the inlet tract, and enlarged transfer passages, and a host of other cylinder porting mods, including three vane air flow separators, (front and back) installed in a 38mm round slide Mikuni, with a UFO device in the slide. It's breathing ...
