Condenser Question

I'm about to replace the points and condenser on my Ace 100. I want to remove the condenser from the magneto assembly and mount it remotely near the coil. What condenser do I want? Does it matter? Is a condenser a condenser?

Re: Exhaust diameter questions......

I mounted a 92B Flame Thrower to a 98 Super Rat while I was waiting for my HT 3 pipe to arrive. I don't think your project would be much different. It was really quite easy. I know you have a welder. Very Carefully do all your measuring and cutting. Mock up everything and tack weld it. Two or three ...

Re: Race modified CW air cleaner question

When I bought the CW it was equipped with an Enduro/Cross kit. It never ran well. I discussed this with Ron Liddle. I told him my MX days are behind me, but I still race cross country. I sent the entire top end of the engine to Ron. He bored it, ported it, changed the reed pedals and set up the carb...

Re: Race modified CW air cleaner question

Drilling the Unobtanium part full of holes made a BIG difference in power. This is a fresh engine and I've been running it rich during break-in. Rod Liddle built the top end and set up the carb for me. I don't know the size of the pilot jet - the needle is in the center notch and a 250 main. I would...

Re: Model 93 Super rat bolts

I made a home plating kit. It's easy to do. There are many Youtube videos on how to do it. I use vinegar for electrolyte, a six volt MC battery charger for power, and zinc roofing flashing for electrodes. I have never done anything as small as nuts and bolts - as each piece being plated must be wire...

Re: Race modified CW air cleaner question

Vic, yes I am drilling a bunch of holes in an Unobtainium part. Your CW is piston port so I don't know if you need to make this mod.

Race modified CW air cleaner question

I have reeded my Combat Wombat and now want to modify my air cleaner for better air flow. I got a race modified filter element from Terry and now need to drill the element cover. I know there are pictures on the net showing how to do this but I can't find any. I need someone to post a picture of a r...

OSM Drops Harry Taylor Cup

The 2020 Don Matthews CZ World Championship has dropped the Harry Taylor Cup from the program for "lack of participation". I wanted to dump on them about why Hodaka riders are tired of their shit, but I decided to take the high road and let it be.

Re: Hodaka - Red vs Orange

Vic, sorry to disagree with you but you are wrong. The original Hodaka paint color is 1957 Chevrolet fiesta red, which is definitely red-orange.

Vic, when you reassemble the carb, be sure to not put them in upside down. Don't ask me how I know that.

Re: Help with Rickman Hodaka ID

No. There are many differences between the two. The main one being the front down tubes. Yours has two, like a Hodaka. The Montessa has a single down tube like a Triumph or BSA. The forks and shocks are also different.

Re: Help with Rickman Hodaka ID

If AHRMA is the only game in town get in contact with AHRMA's Fred Guidi. He is on their board of directors,a Hodaka racer, and all around good guy. He could tell you if AHRMA has a class for your Rickman.

Re: Help with Rickman Hodaka ID

Yes. The Combat Wombat is a piston port engine, that would put you in the classic 125 class. AHRMA has some weird rules so I don't know about then, but most others would have a class for you.

Re: Help with Rickman Hodaka ID

I agree with Thrown. This bike is a Rickman Zundap that has been converted to Hodaka power. The Rickman Hodaka was powered by a iron barrel Super Rat engine. This bike is powered by a newer alloy barrel engine. Their is a number in the front of the right side engine case. That number will I.D. the e...

Also; post this on the Facebook Hodaka Fan Club site. There are some very smart Hodaka guys active on that site that rarely post here.

You need one more exhaust spring. It goes from the front setting bracket( part # 959169 ) down to the pipe.

Re: Victors Combat Wombat Thread!

A quick note. If the bearing doesn't just drop in It's usually because the bearing is not straight in the bore.Put a lot of effort into making sure the bearing is plumb and square.

Re: Victors Combat Wombat Thread!

I've never used a vise to press in bearings. Sounds like it would work. I put the bearings in the freezer the night before. When I'm ready to assemble I turn the oven on to 300 - 325 degrees. While the case is coming to temp, I get together my tools - oven mitt, a 2x4 block to back the bearing boss,...
