Re: Points
There is danger in converting Ft pounds to inch pounds . As the ace 100 flywheel can easily crack or split at the keyway, exceeding the inch pounds can be critical. The torque for the heads is more critical, stripping the threads out of the case is not fun. I think if the manual calls for inch pound...

Re: Brake pedal mod? CW
Forest not trying to be funny but you should have the feel of the brake before you ride. Using the brake when you need it should be autopilot. Do you ride with your toes on the pegs or the middle of your foot on the foot pegs? I ride with my toes on the pegs and when braking I put my toes on the bra...

Re: burning up batteries
Will the battery keep a charge if it is on the bench? With everything turned off hook the charger in line instead of the battery, if current flows then you have a short. The only way you could burn up a battery is if you overcharged and boiled it dry unlikely. Let us know when you solve the mystery....

Re: What point gap do you have?
Then and now in the old days 50's we were always told points were one half of spark plug gap WHY I DO NOT KNOW. When I had the shop I set the points just starting to open on the timing mark using a 1&1/2 volt battery and small bulb. With my eye sight today I am now setting the points at .015 usi...

Re: What point gap do you have?
I have never had problems setting timing with point gap. I think the factory came up with point gap for a reason. More performance will be by proper carburetor tuning. Clarence

Re: Restoring Nuts and Bolts
Chromed bolts or nuts if they were rusted I would but buy new ones from Strictly Hodaka. Bolts and nuts that were never chromed I would clean them and if they were rusty replace them also. Some hodaka parts like the brake pedal and kickstand appeared to have been zink plated, there is a zink spray i...

Re: Restoration ACE90
Well I am from the old school of hodaka. The factory did not have powder coating It is not original. The old paint was not a problem looked great and held up well. If you can spray paint yourself I would do that. I had a few frames sand blasted and you need to prime them quickly. I would use a quali...

Re: NOS(?) Ace 100/Ace 90 Tank
I sold hodaka's from 1965 to 1975. The quality of the chrome was never a factor for me. Setting for 10 years in the sun under the pear tree, in the rain, wind and snow would take it's toll. I did see a very few tanks that you could peal some chrome off. Good tanks were copper plated under the chrome...

Re: Ace 100 air cleaner
The ace 100 air cleaner was a improvement, the ace 90 air cleaner brackets would break with a lot of use. also there was a racing bracket that would hold the ace 100 coil. Looks like very nice work. You could cut the loop bracket off the frame and use the 100 cleaner. Clarence

Re: CW Kickstarter will not engage?
Laurie you gave Henry good info. If it sounds squich or scritch when you kick it over it is the kick roller retainer that expanded, very common. This can be caused by kicking too hard, also this can cause the kick shaft to gall and become pitted once pitted they will slip, always check the shaft and...
