Re: Hodaka Q&A

I went to school with Tge Orger and man did he have good looking sisters. I never rode a 175 but I sold one at hodaka days for about $650 a few years ago. Clarence

Re: Variations in VM20 Carburetor Ace 100/B/B+

A side note. Hodaka changed the mixing chamber body, also called the carburetor body die casting. The change was on the ace 100, June 6th 1968 on engine 26120. The ace 90 and earlier engines the choke only worked with a closed throttle. Dirty_Rats pictures show the new version ----------------------...

Re: 1,2,3,N,5! What next?

This could be me standing alone. The hodaka transmission was built for a clutch to be used. Every counter shaft has 20 holes and each counter shaft has 20 counter balls. Each counter gear has four recessed areas for the balls on the counter shaft to slip into, locking that gear to the shaft. Just to...

Re: Combat Wombat Mystery

Good to hear it is running. If it were mine I would change the jet needle or the needle jet so I would end up with the clip in the middle. This would give me a quick adjustment for elevation ect. The words experimenting with a bigger jet just scares me. Many new motors have been ruined checking for ...

Re: ACE 100 Kickstart shaft clearance

This is very important to me if the kick roller pins are not centered and seated in the kick gear, they would damage the kick shaft and ruin the kick roller retainer. I have machined seventy five thousands off the kick shaft just to center mine. It keeps the hodaka from making the skritch sound, the...

Re: Hodaka Q&A

Center to center on the fork tube for the first ace 90 was 5&7/8 the same for the MK11 hodaka and the ace 100. As I think the 92A, 92B and the 92B+ are 6&1/2 inches center to center and the same for the super combat. The handle bar holder 908727 was 2&1/8 between bolts. The MK11 measured...

Re: Combat Wombat Mystery

My learning curve must be going backwards. What is the amount of cut measured in? Could I transform a 1.5 slide into a 2.5 slide? In the day I only raced a ace90. It ran the best with a 1 and 3/16 inch AMAL monobloc carburetor probably off a 650 triumph. I did well in the IESRA, Inland Empire Sports...

Re: Combat Wombat Mystery

Only two hodaka manuals cover carburetor tuning, that I know of. The ace 90 manual page 99. It shows the fuel flow route for choke and non choke. The pilot jet influence up to 1/8 throttle that combined with the slide cut away, only influenced up to a 1/4 throttle. The needle and needle jet covered ...

Re: Timing Light or Buzz Box?

Point gap by the book is .012" as Dale said or up to .014" Harry at one time suggested the larger. Too small of a point gap can burn or pit the points, as can a bad condenser. Clarence
