Re: 100ll AV gas???
Thanks for the info. I actually posted this question after I already filled up with the AV gas and I can say that the toad is not a fan of the stuff. I knew almost immediately that something was not right with how the bike was running. It felt as though it was breaking up under a load. I am still wo...

What's the word on using 100 octane AV gas in our old hodakas? I have a model 99 toad i am curious to know if I can avoid ethanol by using the local airports gas pump? Thanks, sorry if this has been touched on before.

99 Road Toad case assembly mystery hole
I am in the process of new bearings and seals in my road toad. I just put the cases together and am now questioning whether or not I used to much yamabond despite being careful not to,and clogged the small hole that is formed when the cases are put together. I tried blowing through it but I couldn't...

Re: Road Toad shock interchangeability
Well, I feel like a dolt! No pic necassary to verify they are not super combat shocks. I just compared them and they are definitely not what I was hoping for. Thanks for all the help and info to all.

Re: Road Toad shock interchangeability
My toad shocks are 13.5, the SC shocks are claimed to be 12.5 from the seller. The shocks on the bike look to be original hodaka shocks but I am no expert. Perhaps the shocks don't really belong to super combat anyway. I'll try to investigate further.

Re: Road Toad shock interchangeability
Some good points made here. I guess my goal with my toad is to have as good of a rider as I can on my shoestring budget. New shocks(atleast 270 bucks) vs MAYBE better used ones for 40ish dollars, I would Some good points made here. I guess my goal with my toad is to have as good of a rider as I can ...

Road Toad shock interchangeability
I was wondering if anyone has tried putting Super Combat shocks on a model 99 (1975) Road Toad. I have a lead on some super combat shocks but don't want to pull the trigger on the purchase without a conformation! It looks like sprocket clearance might be an issue. Thanks

Ace 90 Front tire size
hi all, I am looking for advice on what front tire size to go with on my ace 90. I think stock front is a 2.50-17 however mine has 3.50-17s on it front and rear. my fender wont fit with the 3.50 17 on it so i need a smaller tire but i feel a 2.50 17 is gonna be a bit small with the over sized 3.50 o...

Shocking Ignition Question
Hi all, so I took my ace 90 for a chilly ride to my neighbors the other night and when I went to shut it off via the key in the ignition switch, it gave me a pretty good jolt!!! This is the first time this has happened. I don't have a kill switch wired in yet, as I am still working some bugs out fro...

Re: FINDING NUETRAL
I hope this isn't considered "thread hijacking" as I think my problems are sort of relate to the topic. @taber-- my ace 90 will not roll back with the clutch pulled, running and in neutral, and also the kick crank moves forward. what could be hanging up the kick starter? I did rebuild the ...

Re: Ace 90 Clutch issues
one more piece of the puzzle.....when I try to roll the bike backwards while its running and the clutch lever pulled in, I can see the kick starter move forward. I don't know what that means, just figured id throw that out there too. I have been asking myself if there was anyway I could have not put...

Re: Ace 90 Clutch issues
I'll try and explain better. it can be kinda tricky for me to put it all into usable info. shifting into first gear is a hard shift and the bike immediately wants to go forward before I let out the clutch. shifts are a little harder than I remember from before I tore it down. when I have the bike in...

Ace 90 Clutch issues
so, finally got my motor all back together again from a recent rebuild. originally a circlip broke and destroyed the top end. the bike ran and shifted fine before this. I put new bearings and seals in the bottom end and thanks to a true hodaka hero, mike p., I was able to get the top end into better...

Re: Ace 90 connecting rod bushing
Mike, I got the bushing in. I used a 4 inch long 1/4" bolt with a couple 1/4" drive sockets and nuts and washers on it to get the old one out and the new one in. it worked pretty well. then I used a right angled drill and drilled out the 3 holes. I ordered a 12mm hand reamer and am waiting...

Re: Ace 90 connecting rod bushing
Is it feasible to install the bushing and ream it correctly while the motor is still in the bike? Any recommended places to get a 12mm reamer from? Mike, I might have to take you up on your offer of an install tool for the bushing. I certainly don't want to mess it up at this point, I am jonesing to...
