Re: Totally Frustrated!!!
Victor, Just a guess here: But while you were assembling the cases, I would guess the kick shaft was push back into the right case half and allowed the clip to either move out of the pocket, or slide up the roller cage. Then when it was kicked once, it popped out of place. Here is a picture of the j...

Re: Totally Frustrated!!!
Frustrating for sure. I have had to split a set of cases 4 times to correct something I have messed up before. Now I can do it (pull a motor, split the cases, re-assemble and re-install) in less than two hours. A bit more if I do it at a track. Think of it as OJT. Maybe a picture or three showing an...

Re: Just bought a reeded Combat Wombat - Have a few question
Fairfield Motor Sports in Independence is good. They have their own shop and do the work on site. They are a carting shop, so they have lots of experience with small bores. Never had a problem with a job from them. Just east of Noland on 24 Hwy, at Dickinson Road. 1112 Dickinson Rd Independence, MO ...

Re: Just bought a reeded Combat Wombat - Have a few question
Thanks Ed. I had always assumed that the cylinders with the "non consistent" placement of the drilling between the two ports were done after the fact.

Re: Just bought a reeded Combat Wombat - Have a few question
Zombat, Just from the pictures, it looks to me like someone drilled the victory ports and did a homemade job. I have come across several cylinders done this way in the KC area over the years. Cant tell, from the pic's but it doesnt look like one that has been through my hands. Some of the homemade c...

Re: ACE 90 or 100 TT style bikes
Roger, That first switch you linked to will work/fit for me just fine. I got a couple online and they showed up yesterday. I went ahead and soaked the original brake light switch in Evapo-Rust overnight and once it dried off, after a few cycles of the pin, it started working just fine. Probably brok...

Re: ACE 90 or 100 TT style bikes
Thanks Roger. Didnt know the differences in headlight shells. I just like the shape and look of the ACE90 shells. I have another one put away and will check it, but I think it has chrome mounts. I have a third shell, but a PO hacked out the speedo opening to fit a bigger speedo and I just cant bring...

Re: ACE 90 or 100 TT style bikes
Quick question about brake light switches: What are you guys using to replace the original brake light switches? I have a couple that are shot and wont function, it is also a sealed switch, and I have not tried to open one up yet or soak it in Evapo-Rust or anything like that (yet). Any one find a s...

Re: ACE 90 or 100 TT style bikes
Now that I have a down pipe on the way (thank you very much Bob!) this is the direction I am going with the TT style. I will swap to a down pipe, fab up some mounts and paint the tank silver. I will keep the tank as low as it sits in the picture. Already made a seat pan and have to fab the mounts. T...

Re: Down pipes for ACE's?
I did speak to Kevin at Circle F and he does make both a down pipe and up pipe for the chrome tank Rat.
Both are slip fit to the cylinder head. He sent me pic's of both versions.

Re: Down pipes for ACE's?
Tom, That is almost what I am looking for. I need a down pipe for an ACE frame, not the 97/98/late RT frames. Your blue bike looks like a 97/98/late RT frame. I have a down pipe for one of those frames but really dont want to cut it up to fit the ACE frame. The red bike looks like an ACE frame with ...

Re: Part Questions
Bob, I think the adjuster fitting is the last item added to the cable before the lead ball (or bell shape) is attached to the cable when the cable is made up. Maybe someone used a non-stock cable or made their own up. (I have a big box of cable making parts). I dont think the part is optional, just ...

Re: HOW-TO VIDEOS ARE COMING!
All good ideas and I would add one:
Correct way to pull the cylinder and split the cases.
Even make up a couple of the case splitting (bolt/spacer/nut) to use during the video.
And make up one of the drilled boards for holding the right side of the motor during tear down.

Re: Down pipes for ACE's?
Thats what I am looking for Bob!
You clearing some stuff out or just trying to make me drool?
The second pipe looks like an Torque Engineering pipe with a different guard installed. TE used the wire guards and maybe a PO put a punched or expanded metal guard on it from a Toad, Squirt or some thing.

Down pipes for ACE's?
Anyone have one or know of a pipe maker that does down pipes for the ACE"s? I need a couple of down pipes for TT bikes and have been messing with making up one of my own out of various pipes. I have tried TM100/125 pipes and up ACE/Wombat pipes as donors and it isnt all that easy. Bent some 1-1...

Re: 5 3/4" 6v 35/35w H4 Halogen semi-sealed beam
Roger, Once you get the lens and bulb in your hands and do a mock up, I think you will see it can be done. I have used this set up on a Suzuki this last summer. An assortment of good springs, and some small diameter spring steel or piano wire to make up some clips/rings/holders is what I ended up do...

Re: ACE 90 or 100 TT style bikes
Thanks Mike. I had forgot about the Tech Tip's. I will read two of them later today (HT-4 and the TT one). Jack K: Thanks for the info/tips. I have already started ordered some parts and dug out some other spares to start a pile that will soon become my own little TT. Here is what I am starting with...

Re: ACE 90 or 100 TT style bikes
OK, borrowed some tires/rims and did some mock up. I wont be trying to fit the 3.50's.
The other two questions/requests still stand:
Any suggestions as to what size sprockets to run, front and rear?
And I would appreciate any links or pics of some Hodaka's TT style as reference.

ACE 90 or 100 TT style bikes
I have an ACE90 rolling chassis with an ACE 100 motor in it and a second early ACE100 chassis with a couple motors in a box. My plan is to build one or two early TT style Hodaka's. I probably wont swap over to 18" front and rear and will just use the 17" rims instead. A couple of questions...

Re: Mods to a RT cylinder to make it similar to 98 Rat?
Thanks Brian (and Kevin from the old Yahoo Group).
That is the info I was looking for but couldnt recall where I saw it.
I have a couple of old RT cylinders and will see what kind of mess I can make with them this winter.

Mods to a RT cylinder to make it similar to 98 Rat?
Ok, sorry for asking, I know its been covered before buy I cant find it in the archives. What are the mods that must be done to a RT cylinder to make it similar to the 98 Rat cylinder? I ended up with just enough parts to assemble a 98 bottom end and ignition and have a stock bore RT cylinder and pi...

Re: What Frame is this with the Combat mtr?
Thanks all.
Makes sense, if a PO tried to register it to ride on the street. I will do some more checking for a number covered up on the steering head gusset.
Also, I think it may be sold; got a phone call from an ex Hodaka dealer from down in Oklahoma, and I believe we have worked something out.

http://i33.photobucket.com/albums/d89/AJ67SS/For%20Sale/20130921_124701_zps3e1bbe69.jpg So, what the heck frame is this? First time I have not been able to figure out what I have. Looks like a Combat or Wombat frame. Has all the parts for a Combat, with a J motor (020 bore but the piston is rusted ...
