I've used double stick automotive molding tape. This is the tape used to attach molding on cars. I think most people use Silicon. If you use Molding tape, it will most likely never come off. If it does, the paint will come off with it.

Yeap, I'll second that vote for Kevin at Salt Lake Chrome. The last Tank I took down I had to use silver solder to fill a couple small dents. When I picked it up, He told me that one of his workers thought he could do a better job and removed the solder and the dents before re-chroming. Did not char...

As I understand, the "Hodaka" shift cover should bolt right on. No other changes necessary other than "maybe" some shifter adjustments.

This might be helpful: http://hodakaforum.com/viewtopic.php?f=1&t=1864&p=12569#p12569 This was a post from Doug that calculated theoretical speed based on gear ratios. There's more information that can be gleaned from it and it also does not take into account wind drag, etc. But it is useful...

I did quite a bit of research on the headlights and electrical systems for these Hodakas a couple years ago. If you look at some of my previous posts you'll find just about everything you need to know about the headlights, electrical system, and appropriate replacement optiins. Some of these options...

Dunno about other states, but Utah law dictates that reflectors in the rear and rear sides are red, all others are amber, for ALL vehicles that operate on Utah Roads.

Yes, take the heat block off. The spigot adapter serves the same purpose as well.

Tail light is an 1154 bulb, dual filament. It's a modern equivalent. Stop by your local auto parts store and ask for one. 1154 should still be in stock.

Roger, I've followed some of your advice from earlier posts to wire my Ace100 with emergency switch. I've also included an AC regulator but to the yellow wiring that goes to the emergency switch. Should I change it to the green wire? For the magneto with a single lighting coil, the yellow and green...

It has 3 positions; marked "1 0 2" or Low - Off - High. I suppose the "Off" was a "stalker" mode so you could travel at night with no headights.sparkyj wrote:I assume the Ace 90 dimmer switch is 2 position only? along with a horn?

Re: Ace 100 lighting
The earliest Ace 100's didn't have the emergency switch which was located on the left underside of the Headlight bucket. The absence of which is indicative of an Early Ace 100. I suspect the inclusion of the Emergency switch in the Ace 100 may have been one of the Ace 100A changes. The dimmer switch...

That's the correct key for that switch. Unless someone has already made some mods to the switch, that key should work. It's a very good chance things are frozen up inside the key switch. I'll bet the wafers are stuck after many years of non-use. A couple squirts of PB Blaster or something similar, l...

For the Utah leg, maybe you could ask him if he's planning to take the northerly route around Bear Lake and through Logan Canyon or if he's planning to take the southerly route through Salt lake City. It looks like when he gets to Kemmerer, Wy, he has a choice, north or south. South is mostly Freewa...

What would be really cool is if you, (or Mike) could post his route plan. This way, if he's going to be close, we can meet him on the road and cheer him on... and post pictures... ;-) If he comes down Logan Canyon again like he did last time he came through, I think it would be pretty fun to meet up...

Hi, Looking at your key switch, Wiring, and your indication that this is a 1969 Ace 100, It appears that you do indeed have an early Ace 100. This means that you should be looking at the Ace 90 Wiring diagram. It will be closer to what you have than the later Ace 100's. While everyone's comments are...

I switched to the allen head screws and was told 6 - 8 lbft for the case screws. I stopped at 6 lbft and appears to be sufficiently sealed. I do like knowing that all the screws are equally tight.
I find the impact driver most useful when trying to remove screws though.

I purchased a couple boat anchors from the local Boneyard and, as expected, both of them had stuck pistons... After removing the head I wasn't able to get the cylinder to budge either. After lots of penetrating oil, heating and cooling, it still wouldn't budge. Did some reading and found this tool. ...

On every original air box I've seen, whether it be a Super Rat or Dirt Squirt, the graphics are painted, as in silk screen. If decals were substituted later in the production runs, I am not aware. In these photos, where you can see that the "Squirt" is silk screened, the "Dirt" i...

Rather than cut and splice the wires, you can remove the connectors and replace them with new. You would only lose about 1/2" in length, but you would also be able to put new sheathing on too. A couple sources for those vintage connectors have been posted previously.
