Re: New buyer advice? Good deal?

Don’t need to open petcock. Better left shut. Tool box, mounts to the rack. I may have a spare if you need one. I also have a full set of Toad turn signals. :ugeek: Victor Good to know, thanks for all your input, it is very appreciated. I’d defiantly be interested in a toolbox and turn signals if y...

Re: New buyer advice? Good deal?

When you do a compression test, you need to hold the throttle wide open & keep kicking until it stops climbing. Is that the way you checked it? 80 psi still doesn’t sound like much. Did you get a tool box with the rear rack? :ugeek: Victor No I’ll have to try it that way. I opened petcock, push...

Re: New buyer advice? Good deal?

Just an update: Got my hands on a luggage rack in pretty decent shape. Got a spark plug tester and I am getting a spark; I also bought a compression tester and took my own compression test. I was getting more in the 80lb range than 60lb, I don’t know if my cleaning of the carburetor affected anythin...

Re: New buyer advice? Good deal?

Awesome thanks for that diagram. 🙏 Got the carb out. Looks fairly clean inside aside from a lot of oil... at least to my untrained eye, is the gasket supposed to be rigid or is it supposed to be flexible like rubber? Mine is pretty rigid almost a fiberglass-like material. Do I need to fully remove a...

Re: New buyer advice? Good deal?

Hi all, I started some tinkering. I figured I would start by cleaning the carb. Here is some more things I discovered about the bike. The badge and some of the markings on the frame. I also noticed the battery cover? The green L shaped bracket with the 100 decal seemed to have just been held on with...

Re: New buyer advice? Good deal?

BC8852BE-E27A-4881-936F-6274FCA56CD9.jpeg I’ve been looking, but haven’t found an actual owners/service manual yet, unless the illustrated parts list works double duty as a manual. This is the one I bought and says it’s about 32 pages long... not exactly comprehensive but will probably still be ver...

Re: New buyer advice? Good deal?

You guys are such a huge boon, I will definitely keep you all posted on my progress, ups/downs. Bear with me if my questions or terminology might be nonsensical. I’m going to be learning as I go. I will definitely look into replacing some of those parts, and I am gearing up to start the tear down. T...

Re: New buyer advice? Good deal?

Yes I bought it! I am the 4th owner, but the second that is serious about riding it. I don’t know much of the provenance other than the original owner passed away, and used it primarily as an enduro race bike, so he shed as much weight as he could, unfortunately the blinkers, rack, and turn signals ...

Re: New buyer advice? Good deal?

Thank you for these responses, exactly what I was after. I see them so infrequently in my area and if I do it’s just parts or the engine alone. I have a feeling I might kick myself later if I let it go. Couple more questions, so I’ve never actually seen this bike in person, do you think it would fit...

Re: New to Hodaka is this a deal?

Same experience here. Whenever I do see Hodaka stuff appear on CL or OfferUp its usually a mess of parts or Just a completely roached out frame that is priced higher than everything in that CL listing combined. Maybe I’ll shoot him an offer a bit lower and see, worst comes to worse it will sit for a...

Re: New to Hodaka is this a deal?

Thank you, yes I considered talking him down a bit, but it’s so rare I see Hodaka stuff in my area I felt like I should strike while The iron was hot, but you make good points. And thank you for the tips.

New to Hodaka is this a deal?

Hi everyone I am new here and to Hodaka restoration in general but it has long been on my bucket list ever since I saw a neighbor tool around on his road toad. I’m not an experienced rider or restorer but figured now is a good time to learn. I was wondering if this was a good deal for a project to s...
