Re: 250ED rear shocks

Reporting in on the rebuild. Dave's article in the Resonator provided the part number and vendor for everything I needed to rebuild the shocks. The 8 1/4" length kit is no longer available but the 8 inch one did provide enough pieces to complete the job. I used the rubber jounce bumper, the ent...

Re: 250ED rear shocks

Thanks for the Hodaka Dave recomendation matt, I will contact him.

Small world Victor, I was born in Paterson as well. Do you remember the Hodaka dealer in Hawthorne that also sold Datsuns, Alphas and Lotus? That's where I bought my first Hodaka. (O'Brien's Datsun). A 100B+ then a SR.

250ED rear shocks

Anyone have a recommendation for someone who can rebuild the rear shocks for my 250ED? They don't need any chrome work or polishing. Damper valves and shaft seals should do it.

Re: Bad landing?

Matt, oh no it's not me! I found it on the H.A.M.B. earlier today. I do feel sorry for the guy's next few seconds though. I also wonder who it was? It does answer one question though...Where we got all those dents in those beautiful tanks!

My 250 ED came with a speedo drive unit and headlight/number plate. I did install a complete speedometer set up from Hodaka Parts.

Re: 250ED float level

I agree with Bullfrog. The float arm step should face away from the carb body and towards the float bowl. At that point the float arm will be parallel with the gasket surface. Like I posted earlier, my bike ran cleaner on the low end with the tips of the float arm bent down 1/8" from that point...

Re: 250ED float level

That big Mikuni has the stepped float arm in it. I had some issues with them being a bit rich when set up that high. I dropped mine down about an 1/8th from there and the problem went away.
Your results may vary.

Re: Plastic tank repair

Clark tanks have a coarser thread on the filler cap. They also use brass threaded inserts for the fuel tap and mounting lugs. Caswell 2part will work as it is an epoxy type of liner.

Re: Hodaka Dealer and Distribtor project.

I don't know who this dealer's distributor was but I didn't see their name listed in the Smith book. In 1970 the place to buy a Hodaka in northern New Jersey was O'Brien Motors in Hawthorne NJ. They sold an odd assortment of vehicles, Datsun, Fiat, Lotus and Hodaka. I purchased an Ace 100 B+ and a 1...
