Leak down
Hey guys, finally was able to get a proper leak down test and was awesome to see it go right but I did have some sort of leak coming off the inlet manifold. Must have a some kind of pore leaking through. Anyone else ever have something similar?

01 flywheel puller
I just started digging into my 01 and realized I need a different puller then the 98. Anyone have any suggestions or is the tool from Terry the best way. I'm assuming I just answered my own question though.

Re: Restoration 98 super rat
Victor, I'd have to ask my painter. He had a name for it, not sure if it was an actual color or just what he called it. Would you like me to find out?

Re: Nylon nuts
Bruce, Im not sure what special nuts you're referring to? The original clutch just has screws and wire. Are there nuts that can be put on with stock screws to supplement the wire?

Re: Nylon nuts
Yeah, I had read a thread awhile back that some guys were using the nylon nuts and hadn't had any problems and that was with the stock screws for my specific clutch. I do have them on there right now but I believe I have the wire on the way with some other parts so I will probably switch back. Appre...

Nylon nuts
I've read where some guys have used or use nylon nuts on the clutch instead of the safety wire. I'm leaning towards using them also. Is there a special kind used? Seems like the ones at the hardware store aren't shallow enough to get a full bite? I realize some clutches have longer screws, I believe...

shifter shaft washer placement
Hey fellas, I was trying to get some more work done with my rebuild and I'm at the shifter right now. I have 2 foot change shaft washers and looking at the schematics I can't tell if they go on the inside of the the cover over the ratchet spring or on the outside underneath the snap ring. I wish I w...

Re: Is this bad?
The other thing I noticed is that with all the gears on the countershaft, if I engaged a gear all the other gears would spin too. Shouldn't they spin freely if they're aren't engaged? I held onto them and spun it while the o e of the gears were engaged and it just wanted to spin with it. If that mak...

Re: Is this bad?
Yeah, the washer on the kick start isn't normally there I just moved it off of the top gear (countershaft) for the photo. The bike sat for 30 some years before I got it. Theast time I changed the bearings I didn't look too closely at it. The corrosion on the case is similar to the size of the stuff ...

Is this bad?
Putting the motor back together and noticed some impurities. Is this normal wear? Can the bike live with this?
Also are the gears orientated correctly? It has the lip on the one side of each gear.
