Re: Starter plunger 94 Wombat
Does it look something like this: https://www.jetsrus.com/individual_parts/007_752_su.html I know it says VM16... but that is just a parts reference. It is listed as the starter plunger for the VM24. Since this one fits the new VM24 it may or may not have the same dimensions, but measure yours caref...

Re: 69 Ace 100: Getting it started
You can soak the rings from the plug hole, but I wouldn't use motor oil for this. Use a tablespoon full of ATF or a good spray of penetrating oil and let it sit. Kick the motor over gently until you have the compression of the upstroke, and then put in the solvent and let it sit overnight. You can s...

Re: jetting advice
Generally, changing heat range on the plug is not a cure for fouling. 28:1 is probably more Amsoil than you really need for trail riding, but change only one thing at a time or you will just get lost. Especially if you do a lot of idling, running slow or at low rpm, your fuel mix will tend to accumu...

Re: 69 Ace 100: Getting it started
80 psi is way too low. Should be more like 140 to 160. Could be the rings are stuck if it has been sitting a long time.

Replacement cables made for your exact model are available from Paul Stannard at Strictly Hodaka, as well as from Hodaka-Parts dot com. No need to use wrong cables. Find a manual for the Ace 100, and most of your questions will be answered, keeping in mind the manuals were written in a prior century...

Capacity is listed as 1 1/4 pint but it can be very difficult to get all of the old fluid out of the cases, so on a refill start with a pint and check the dip. Here is the link to the spec sheet for the Ace 100: https://www.strictlyhodaka.com/v/vspfiles/photos/uploads/SH_Ace%20100.jpg Brand and weig...

Re: Gas question
I suppose you could always try the fuel that is already in the tank. Ask the guy you bought it from how old it is. But if its age isn't known, it is simpler to dump it and start over. Yamalube is blue if I remember correctly, as are many other premix oils. May we assume here you didn't test run the ...

Re: Hello! New bike, rough idle, now oil leak.
Photo documentation is always appreciated here. Here's a way to verify the oil thing that costs nothing: remove the carb or remove all fuel from the carb so that kicking the engine over won't draw liquids from that source; use a dry plug but don't connect the plug wire; kick, check, clean, and repea...

Re: 22mm Carb kit for Ace 100
28:1 is not "too rich" a mixture whether broken in or not. It's fine to use from now on. 28:1 will have a bit more oil in the mix than, say, 32:1 so there will be less gasoline per measure of mix than with 32:1. Whether this is seen as being "rich" or "lean" depends on ...

Re: Hello! New bike, rough idle, now oil leak.
While it is likely that the folks are right about the seal, I am curious how it was determined that the oil present in the exhaust is, in fact, motor oil (oil that belongs in the transmission as opposed to the injector oil that is pumped into the engine to lubricate the crank and piston). Once oil p...

Re: 22mm Carb kit for Ace 100
The replacement system is engineered to work on your machine. If you have questions about how it works or if it is pre-jetted to a stock Ace, send your email to Paul at Strictly Hodaka. All of his other carbs are jetted to order so I assume this one is also. Frankly I never was impressed with the st...

Sure hate to see you suffer with that old decal. I'll give you ten bucks for the decal and the bike, and then the decal problem will be off your shoulders. ;) Post a photo of the flip side of the decal. Not sure from the description which side is "plastic" and which is paper. The matrix th...

Re: Decal application
From the photo, I am assuming that the numbers are right side up and right side out when loooking through the plastic cover as opposed to trying to see the decal through the paper backing. If so, then the decal and the plastic separate from the paper when ready to apply. The decal stays with the pla...

Verifying that the overflow vents are open should be a simple thing to do. If the fuel bowl is overfilling, the vent tubes are there to carry away the overflow. Verifying float and float needle function is also easy. The float needle must fully stop flow of fuel when the float rises. New floats may ...

Re: Need help with correct exhau
I would say Clarence is probably right about exhaust style, and I would also say you probably have a 92A. The confusion regarding the "A" style 92 stems from lack of record keeping at Hodaka, and the differences in parts stems from what Hodaka Japan was actually doing in late 69 and early ...

Pits cause wear, but smoothing them out recontours the cam surface and can impact function. As long as there are no sharp edges, I would put a dab of grease and let them be.

Yes you can use fiberglass repair mat but I would expect it to not last as long as it should. You can buy glass repack material from bike catalogs. Or use your ceramic. You can even use steel wool. Almost enything will work, some better than others, some last longer than others. What you are creatin...

Re: High rev clutch slipping, 94 Wombat
If the clutch doesn't have the correct discs, is worn out, or has the wrong springs, its clamp force is impaired. Slippage due to reduced clamp force isn't speed related per se, but rather load dependent. Usually happens in the higher gears under acceleration where the engine hits its torque peak an...

Stator winding isn't really difficult, but guys who do it usually build a winding jig first to get the winds tight and even. The other details are wire gauge and length. Stator wire is available on the internet.

It takes very high pressure and very high revs to blow out a spark. Your outside the cylinder test will show you what s...
