Are you referring to wheel bearings of engine bearings? Sealed wheel bearings are your choice. Engine bearings should not be sealed.

Re: Road Toad lights suddenly dimming
Charging voltage is always checked at the battery terminals with the battery installed and fully charged. All new batteries require charging before use. Doesn't matter what the sales guy says, or what style battery you have. Trickle charge to full capacity before installing. The bike will not, repea...

Re: I want to know a bout home zinc plating
Here's a discussion from another forum on what to use and how to do it at home using mostly readily available stuff. Zinc might be hard to find in some areas, but the internet should provide if you can't find zinc flashing. http://thefactoryfiveforum.com/showthread.php?14392-DIY-Zinc-Plating-for-Don...

Not saying this unit fits the Toad, only that if you look for one, you will probably find one that will work. https://www.1000bulbs.com/product/56320/BAT-UB645F1.html?gclid=EAIaIQobChMIxKHYquXp1AIV1pd-Ch080AAWEAQYCCABEgI92_D_BwE Not to mention that they are far cheaper than any standard lead acid ba...

Clarence, 50 year old shocks are 50 year old shocks. By this time, even NOS shocks of that vintage would likely not last long. I tossed both the original Ace B shocks and the 70's vintage Mavericks I raced on years ago because they simply didn't get the job done any longer. While I was sceptical of ...

The 26mm Mikunis used in the RD350 Yamaha reed valved two stroke road bikes have very close to zero atomizer height. There is nothing absolute about the height of the atomizer and the combustion theory of the engine.

Well, yes, you can get custom automotive paint loaded in spray cans. Many suppliers offer paint this way. I was referring to OTC spray paint like Dupli-Color which is sold as automotive grade paint, but is really not the same thing at all. Then too, I have yet to find a spray can that puts out paint...

Wear pattern: not sure. Almost looks like they have been power sanded with a disc, but this could just be debris tracking the discs. Either case, they are done. Steel discs: dead on arrival. Don't reuse them. These are corroded past using again and could be a good part of why you don't get rolling i...

Re: Tiny Hole
Go back and re-read my last post. I wasn't guessing about the purpose of the vent, and plugging it won't fix the leak, it will just make the pressure go somewhere else. Into the transmission would be the other way out. Or you can just leave it be. Clarence, don't confuse "vent" here with a...

Matt, I use the clutch almost all the time. Whether one needs to or not is a matter of style or opinion. You can down shift without using the clutch but the speed misalignment of contiguous gears is increased shifting down. It isn't worth risking damage in my opinion, and if the engagement balls are...

If we are looking at the same thing here, the hole is a vent passage from a crankcase casting void to atmosphere. Looking at the last two photos in that eBay listing, you will see that the passage is continuous with the web reinforced void at the back side of the cylinder and above the transmission ...

Re: Shifter adjustment
What they are referring to is shifting without using the clutch. The Hodaka transmission is a constant mesh unit. Every gear is always engaged with its mate. The only thing that moves around and changes which gear drives which shaft is the spring and ball system. Since all gears are being driven, sh...

There are several tools needed to properly maintain a motorcycle, but two tools that you just can't fake are the flywheel puller and an impact driver (non-electric, smack it with a hammer type). Beyond that, torque wrench, electric multi-tool, feeler gauges, and metric sockets. And a manual.
