Re: Air filter setup for 97

Thanks Dale - How did you secure your aluminum element cover to hold in the filter?

Air filter setup for 97

Hello all - I'm looking for ideas for an air filter for a 97. I don't have the element cover nor have I purchased the filter and cage yet. I'm wondering how others have setup their system if they didn't have the element cover. I can just cut a round piece of metal/plastic, but not sure what to attac...

Pop - Can you share the Mods you have on your bikes? I currently only have upgraded the suspension on my 95.

Re: All opinions welcomed

Thanks Ed - I race in the PNWVMX where it's very relaxed. I like to stay away from the AHRMA fast guys.

All opinions welcomed

I hope you all are doing well. I have questions about next year's vintage racing. This year my stock 95 (upgraded suspension) and I got smoked all season in the vintage MX 125 class (non ARMA, just for fun). I enjoy the group I race with and would like to stay in the Vintage 125 class, so I'm ponder...

Hello again, 92 -> 95 gears?

Hello all - Whelp, I threw a chain and broken 3rd counter gear and 3rd on my main shaft on my 95. Please don't ask how I did it because I don't want to relive my stupidity. This is a safe place, right?? Anyhoo, I had a thought and grabbed a main shaft and counter gears from storage. I figure ...

Re: 1,2,3,N,5! What next?

Thanks for all the help. You three got me on the right track. Ed - There is a bit of play in the foot change shaft. I would not have thought it enough, but it must be because I tested a second case I had. Now I need to do some research on how to do a shift cover rebuild. MTrat - I didn't even think ...

1,2,3,N,5! What next?

Hello again big brains. You're my only hope. Race season is quickly approaching and this year I'll be racing my stock 95. I've got it running nice but 4 gear is raining on my parade. I just replaced control shaft springs, control shaft ball receiver, control shaft spring stopper. Everything except t...

Re: Race modifications?

Crash - You've inspired me to get down an old Wombat frame and muck with it for racing. Any chance you can share closer pictures of your foot pegs? I'm interested in how you did those.

Thank

95 leaky crank shaft oil seal (left)

Hodaka Forum you're my only hope! Hi all - I did a 6psi leak down test and I've got a leaky crank shaft oil seal (left side). See attached picture. All other seals and spark plug are good. How should I fix this? Purchase new bottom end kit from Terry and hope that fixes it? I rebuilt the bottom end ...

Re: Electronic Ignitions

Hey Dale! Missed you at Boise this weekend. I will check my condenser to make sure it's in the correct range. I didn't install new points when I did change the condenser as I thought they looked good. Sounds like being cheap bit me in the butt again.

Re: Electronic Ignitions

Thanks Clarence. I just replaced my condenser with one I purchased from NAPA so that could be an issue. Electronic ignitions sound like a good alternative but I'm on the fence from pulling the trigger to purchase since they are pricey. Look to see if others think they are worth the money or not.

Electronic Ignitions

Hey everyone, I'm gathering info on electronic ignitions. I had a rough weekend on my 95 (Combat Wombat) pertaining to points. I had to clean them a couple times to get spark on a single day. I figure that I need to wire clean/replace my points, but a friend mentioned to go to electronic ignition......

Am I the dipstick because I can't read mine?

Probably because I'm getting older, but I have a heck of a time reading the dipsticks on my Hodakas. Clean oil on the silver sticks is almost invisible to me. I'm thinking about painting the end of the sticks a matte black but not sure such a good idea. Any ideas? Oh....and what's the best oil? :lol...

Re: Question on forum organization

Yes you are right Victor that we can use search. I was just mulling how a predefined tags could be used to put posts into buckets to filter on. A predefined tag like "Performance" could catch a post that talked about carb hacks that didn't have the actual word "Performance" in it...

Re: Question on forum organization

I do like that there is one big bucket for daily reading but I can see the benefit of different buckets for the people that pop in for help or if I want to read up on a certain topic like you mention "Performance". I'm not complaining because the search has worked for me over the years, bu...

Re: hodka factory name?

I cheated. The answer is in a brochure I have, "The Hodaka Story". Next time I'll try not to be a "party pooper" and hold my tongue. But......where do I pick up my Super Combat prize bike for having the right answer??
