Re: Newbie: Bulb Help!
Removed with a blowtorch???? I'd like to see a photo of the globe and fitting area in the lens out of curiousity. I have a little Deckson Eagle 80, motor made by Fuji, a predecessor of the Hodaka engine, rest of bike made in Taiwan, that is a 6V system and I am having lots of trouble finding 6V glob...

Re: Wombat side stand
Hello Bert, I believe the later Dirt Squirts shared the filler cap but with a 2 gall rather than 2 1/2 gall tank, I have to agree that my tank looks like a Wombat tank. What has driven me to think of a Wombat resto is that I found some slides of my old Wombat which was my second bike, I have managed...

Re: Wombat side stand
Frame and engine numbers identify it as a 94A Victor, under the red paint is a black frame complete with stop light switch bracket still on frame, I have been meaning to fill the tank to see how much it holds, and see if it is a Wombat tank. Had thought of some custom colours but like the idea of ne...

Re: Wombat side stand
Thank you for the side stand Bert44, easy job to straighten it and I had to reshape the support bracket to get it to sit right. Now she sits up quite proud and happy. Working on this brings back memories, as said, I have known this bike for 40 years and can always remember the owners son, who is a t...

Re: Petcock
Not sure if you guys have them over there, but here in Australia I use a plastic tap from my local lawnmower repair shop, only a few dollars and work well, the downside is that they are plastic and you could break one off if you drop the bike. I never have but carry a spare just in case. Wayne from Oz

Hello Bert,
Trying to send a PM but it doesn't seem to want to play ball, I'm at work so I'll try again at home in the morning.

Re: Cable colors, bike models
94 Wombats have grey cables. 94A went to black cables. I would guess that a smaller front wheel diameter than the Wombat's 21" would make for shorter brake and speedo cables. The distance (length) from handlebars to wheel hub would be the same regardless of wheel diameter, the hieght of the ha...

Re: 250ED float level
Yes agree with all regard the float arm level, just as I had some some conflicting info I thought I would put the question out there. Also not expecting the float level to improve my idling issue, just that it came to my eye while cleaning and inspecting carby. I have given the carby a thorough deep...

Re: 250ED float level
Those answers are all part of the problem, the arm has a dogleg in it, the manual shows that dogleg going down, eyeballing the arm puts it about 27mm float level. But my arm shows wear (scuff mark) from the needle/seat on both sides of the arm, so at one time the arm was set up with the dog leg up, ...

250ED float level
Hello isolated chaps, I'm giving my carb some maintenance to hopefully cure an idling issue, but I am seeing conflicting info regard the float level, can somebody tell me what the float level is supposed to be (not the fuel level).

Re: Wombat side stand
Isn't a Wombat sidestand longer than a Dirt Squirt's? It seems it might be, with the smaller wheels on the DS. I had asked this question previously as I would have thought so as well, they have separate part numbers, but people tell me they are the same, yet to have total confirmation. There is a b...

Wombat side stand
A call to any Australian's, I put this request on Facebook, but knowing not everybody does Facebook I am posting here as well. Does anyone have a spare Wombat or Dirt Squirt side stand, spring and bolt they are willing to sell? The Dirt Squirt I bought (that turns out to be a Wombat with small wheel...

Blowing globes
I am still blowing tail light globes on my 250ED, I have managed to slow the process using 24v globes but still an issue. A fellow Aussie down here is using a circuit called 'globe saver' or something like that, it used to sold by Paul at Strictly Hodaka, does anybody know if these are still availab...

Sidecase repair
Doing some preliminary work on my next rebuild, my new 'Big Squirt' (followers on Facebook may be familiar with the Dirt Squirt I bought only to find out it is a red painted Wombat with 19"/17" wheels, hence Big Squirt). It hasn't been looked after as well as I thought my old mate Ron woul...

Re: Dirt Squirt suspenders
I am going to have to whip that head off tomorrow and measure the bore now. And looking at the frame I note that it is actually black around the head stem area then the rest of the frame is red, very curious. Good deal or not, I am disappointed if it isn't a genuine Dirt Squirt, rather than a small ...

Re: Dirt Squirt suspenders
You got me thinking Joe, and now I may be a little disappointed, done some poking around and cleaning up of the bike today, a started a list of things to do and things to buy, no real surprises, except that the old mate Ron hadn't looked after this as well as I thought he would, me thinks his useles...

Dirt Squirt suspenders
Hello all, I had reported in the past about finally getting the 250ED of my now 90 year old mate Ron, which I was scared would end up in his son's hands, it would have ended up trashed, totally wrecked and scrapped if he got it, he is that sort of lad. Ron also had 1 1973 Dirt Squirt which was going...

Re: Fuji motors??
Yes, fully registerable in South Australia, came with indicators as well.
This is pride and joy back then.
This is me as a 17 year old back in 1974.
I plan on registering this little girl when she is going.

Re: 250ED clutch
Yep, we have Belray in Oz, I'll get some and try it out, I like simple solutions so I hope it works.
The bigger problem than not finding nuetral is that it wants to drive of with the clutch in! Not much fun if one is stuck at a long light cycle.

Re: Fuji motors??
Just an update on this little project, all is going very well and I am pretty pleased so far. -When I got her she was locked in gear, pulled the side cover and found a pull shaft exactly like the bigger Hodaka's, the bike cycled thru the gears nicely. -Pulled the shift mechanism apart which was once...

250ED clutch
Help needed, I have only recently got my restored 250 onto the road, it is going well but I am having some clutch issues which I need to address, in particular it won't release properly, when I pull up I have to snick it into neutral before I stop rolling, otherwise I can't get neutral at stand stil...

Thank you thrownchain, fingers crossed but it will be some months away before I know, the motor has compression but not surprisingly doesn't run so will have to split the case and replace seals for sure.

Re: Fuji motors??
Thank you Ed, as said, I have been led to believe but I have always been a doubter. A bit like the chinese trail bikes we get down here that look like Honda SL100's, even had a friend buy one because the salesman told him you can get spare parts from Honda! I just hope the engine internals are ok on...
