Re: The 2 the Max Project
One thing I've learned to do over the years is to swing the left leg up and forward to be sure it hasn't snagged on the carb *as I slow down and before I actually stop*.
I wonder if a "brush guard" would help Max?

Poor Max! Hope you are OK.
The Beemer has old school carb tickler buttons for starting. The left one is infamous to catch on the pants cuff, and bam, there we go.

Whoa!!! The bidding war has taken off over those Earles forks. Up past $150. What should the top price be on these?

Re: Alleghany National Forest Trail Ride 2017
That's right! Hurricane Irma is going to change things a lot. Fortunately, Alabama will be on the west side of the storm which will pull dry continental air in on us, so we will have nice Fallish weather.
Best wishes for you East Coasters!!

Thanks Gary. Old adage, "stuff happens" My phone,Samsung Galaxy, Android, for some reason, skipped the "file upload status bar" snd "upload complete, place inline" panes. It went from the popup window where I selected my local file directly back to the options/attachmen...

And to toss out more choices: Keep the compression brake stay you have, but add a welded strengthening rod like you did on the brake pedal on an earlier bike. Sure, the stays are usually in tension but these are 4" drums on a 200 pound bike. And it will always be a conversation point at the tra...

Re: The 2 the Max Project
Looking at what has been done is always good to get fresh ideas or to confirm that your idea is workable.
You might want to google "motorcycle rearsets" for more examples.

I remember that OSHMO has some nice rearsets for BMW airheads that you might get ideas from.

Re: The 2 the Max Project
That rear brake cable is a great idea. The Honda CB160, and others, used a rear brake cable-- it might pay to look at manuals and see how they did the linkage.

It might even be a JavaScript problem. If the computer can't read or run the script it barfs. I'm sure that the image upload wasn't working before.

What a nice gaggle of Hodakas.

From the "Full Editor" pane:
NOTHING
From the "Attachments> Add File" there was no "File Upload" window or a "Place Inline" button.
Something is fishy.

Re: The 2 the Max Project
Good work. Remember that the cast-in collar not only serves as the sealing surface for the wheel grease seal but also serves as a distance collar for the wheel bearing stack. So whatever thickness was removed in that collar needs to be added back via the spacers on the outside, probably the right si...

Re: Another rookie question and possible mistake.
Thanks for posting that, Paul. I was looking thru my own Hodaka photos for an example but couldn't find one. Unless he has experience with installing helicoils, he might consider farming this helicoil job out. This cylinder stud has to be drilled and tapped perfectly square or the cylinder/head may ...

Then I guess that we'all are fortunate that Hodaka/Pabatco only adopted so much from Greeves. We'd be in a heck of a pickle otherwise.

Re: The 2 the Max Project
If the ACE 100 shifter/cover gives a shift lever that works backwards, could you noy use a later Hodaka shifter to give the correct shift pattern? Linkage is nice, but direct is nicer.

Bruce probably doesn't. But he can refer you to other sources. I went thru the same tapdance a couple of months ago. There may be a old Kawasaki dirt bike that used the same coil. Look at my posts for an "ignition" thread.
