Re: The 2 the Max Project
If this is how your shop looks when its a disaster I'd be banned at the door when its tidy :) I certainly won't be posting any photos of mine... Just wanted to say how much I'm enjoying watching your project. Thanks for taking the time to share it with us. And hoping your welder friend is back to fu...

Re: How to read a Spark Plug
That is a good video, thanks Gary. K.C. is the main reason I read CW anymore. The man is very interesting month after month. I like how he can take a seemingly mundane subject and write a page and a half that is totally captivating for people like us. (well like me anyhow) I have an old magazine wit...

Re: Check you inbox
My membership is good to May 2018. Haven't received Resonator email yet? Maybe its stuck in the snow? Or at the border?
Hopefully it gets here soon. Otherwise I'll have to spend another evening reading the owner's hand book.

This build is awesome on so many levels. The fact that your son is the driving force is super. He can shoulder some of the blame for a garage full of Hodaka bits, LOL. Seriously, I love seeing you guys with younger relatives enthused about having fun with small bikes. Working and building and riding...

Re: B+ exciter coil problem?
Jack, for sure I'll update this topic no matter how my recent purchase goes. There is an answer here somewhere. It just doesn't seem to be one of the usual suspects. Re points vs CDI system diagnosing: the next time I get an energy transfer system in the shop that is sparking I'm going to try the pe...

Re: B+ exciter coil problem?
Lots of things to address so please bear with me. Regarding the peak voltage readings - using an adapter many DVOM's will read peak voltage and this is a common test for CDI ignition components. For instance Yamaha, Mercury Marine and Suzuki, (brands we sell and therefore I work on) publish peak vol...

Re: B+ exciter coil problem?
Thanks guys. Clarence, this is on a second set of points since losing spark. And I tried two condensers. Jack, I have rewound a lighting coil for my Yamaha DT400 making it a 12 volt system. But that was straight forward in that I went to larger diameter wire and wound as many layers as practical but...

Re: B+ exciter coil problem?
Hhhhmmmm has your wife been taking notes from my wife? :) I rechecked the resistance and it does seem to be close to spec. My manual calls for .6ohms and I'm getting .8-.9 and when factoring in the meter leads its close. (DVOM with no way to zero the ohms meter; with leads touching it reads .2) But ...

Re: B+ exciter coil problem?
Yep, the infamous "wiggle test" called for by all the manufactures these days. Its routine to see me with a lap top connected to atv's, outboards, motorcycles etc watching for changes on screen while yanking and twisting suspected areas of wiring harnesses. The points are new and appear cl...

B+ exciter coil problem?
Hi everyone. Although I haven't posted for a while I check in every day and enjoy following all the topics. The first season with my B+ has been a little up and down... ;) You may recall that it suffered a seizure back in May but since that she ran great for about 400 miles. Then the small end beari...

Re: Leak down tester?
First you need to block off the intake and exhaust. With a thread on exhaust you could find an expanding plug at the hardware store that will fit or cut a disc the correct diameter out of a piece of rubber, maybe a 1/4" thick or so and sandwich that in place with the exhaust nut/pipe. Intake si...

As a club member you can go to the club home page, (that might be how you are accessing this forum?). On the very right hand side at the top you'll see "Hodaka Days", then "Events" and then further right you'll see three horizontal bars. Hover your cursor over the bars and a drop...

Re: B+ shock disassemble
Thanks. Its a bit small to fit in my regular spring compressor so I'll use a bearing splitter in the press.
This method has worked for me before but usually the shocks have the split collars up top. So these ones had me wondering.

B+ shock disassemble
Has anyone taken B+ OEM shocks apart? I see the roll pin on the top eye and I suspect after removing it that the top can be unscrewed from the shaft? I'm wondering if this can be done somehow? The spring would need to be compressed somewhat to access the top of the shaft...doesn't seem like there is...

Re: Best Gas Tank Cleanout Method
Cider vinegar has the highest acid content of all vinegars so I think that's why it works the best. I've used your method on a few tanks with good results. I find the hottest water you can get to rinse after helps too. My only difference is I use a length of chain rather than the nuts and bolts. Eve...

Re: Proper sodering iron
I've got one that I've used for soldering steel tanks along with other larger soldering jobs. Works great for such things. I used to heat it with my oxy/acet torch but I've given up my bottles since the cost of a contract went stupid.
What do you all use to heat this type of iron?

You maybe right Al. My plan is to take it apart again, check the wrist pin fit and check the clearance at the same time. This won't happen for a couple of weeks but I'll post my results when I get to it.
And good luck with yours; hopefully your troubles are over.

Re: B+ seizure
Ed, great info. Thank you. I didn't feel it was tight based on others I've done but this is the first of this small a size so I should do as you say and revisit the pin fitment. When I ordered some new circlips I didn't remember that they come two to a pack so I now have plenty on hand. Jack-Regardi...

B+ seizure
A couple of weekends ago I hauled my B+ to an event in Port Hope Ontario put on by the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group, of which I'm a long time member. The Ganaraska 250 is loosely based on the Moto Giro type rides and is aimed at small displacement bikes although larger rides are allowed as well...
