Re: Alternative Handlebar Switch Assembly

Thanks Victor. I’m hoping to save the original, but my goal is to get the bike running, I’m not aiming for a concours 100% original.

Alternative Handlebar Switch Assembly

Can anyone suggest a suitable alternative for the left side handlebar switch assembly that controls the turn signals, horn and lights for a 1974 Road Toad? Searching 4000+ listings on eBay proved unsuccessful. I've found a mechanic willing to help me with the wiring on my restoration project and he'...

Re: Road Toad Wiring Dilemma

Everything helps! Your photos really expanded my data base.

I was really confused the way the schematic was layed out. It took awhile to determine that some of the switches, etc were mounted on the frame and swingarm.

Thank you again for taking the time to help me.

Road Toad Wiring Dilemma

After a pandemic forced delay, I'm resuming work on my Model 99 restoration project. I've run into a major problem with the wiring portion. I have no electrical experience and unfortunately the available schematic is essentially incomprehensible to me. After an extensive internet search for photogra...

Model 99 Electrical Questions

I'll state upfront I am essentially illiterate when it comes electrical wiring. I've been working on a Model 99 Road Toad for a prolonged period. I was unable to locate an original set of front turn signals, so on the advice of a friend, I acquired a set of period/era correct units which came off a ...

Hodaka Seat Foam Compatiblity?

I'm trying to locate new seat foam for my model 99 Road Toad project. There's a company on eBay called Seat Factory who produced Hodaka seat foam in response to requests from some Southern California vintage racers. My question to the forum is, would this foam fit the seat pan for my machine? I have...

Trying to contact Hodaka Parts Inc

I've been trying to contact the new owners of STRICTLY HODAKA via email and have yet to receive an answer. My work schedule prevents me calling them directly. Has anyone else had a problem reaching them? I need to purchase some more parts for my on-going Road Toad restoration project. Thanks to all ...

O-ring size for Road Toad rear hub.

Could any forum member tell me what size the o-ring, listed as #45 in the model 99 rear wheel schematic, is? I'm hoping to source it locally since ordering it will cost more in postage than the actual price of the part itself. Thank you in advance.

Road Toad Wheel Lacing

I'm in the process of having the wheels for my model 99 Road Toad re-laced with new spokes. The rims and hubs were acquired separately. Checking the Road Toad owners manual I can find no references to what the off-set measurements are for the hubs. Can any well-versed members of this forum provide e...

Torque spec for Road Toad countershaft sprocket

I'm doing a (very)long term restoration project on a model 99 Road Toad. My manual doesn't list the torque setting for the counter shaft sprocket nut.
Can one of the knowledgeable members of this forum provide me with at least a ball park figure in the inch-pound format? Thanks in advance.

Re: First Time Hodaka Restoration--Need help

Thanks to the nine persons who stepped up with very helpful tips. You folks really cleared things up for me. I would like to verify two more things. 1. How much of an interference fit is acceptable between the clutch hub and the cage? Right now, mine is so tight I have to tap it apart with a small p...

First Time Hodaka Restoration--Need help

Hello: I'm new to this forum and to Hodaka's in general. I have a model 99 Road Toad that is my first long term restoration project. I'm using it as a learning opportunity in addition to eventually returning the bike to running condition. I have a question regarding remounting the clutch assembly. A...
