Re: Day One - New Project
Max do you have a welder? If I have any 1.5 U-bends I can mock up a head pipe based on your side view pics and you can fit it to the muffler and weld it out or you can bring it when you come by and I'll do it. Make sense?

Re: Day One - New Project
Absolutely Max, perfect sense. I'll check my U bend stock and see if I have any 1 1/2". I wish I knew what that pipe came off of, I'm gonna try it and see how it works and report back. A quick tutorial for anyone who cares...... Tube is measured by OD. Pipe is measured by ID. Also if you could ...

Re: Day One - New Project
Max, I use 180 degree U bends then cut and weld them together. So the long answer is yes :D What head pipe diameter are you using? And for the record, I have no idea what the pipe I pictured fits. It does however bolt on directly to the 100 by way of an exhaust nut, just like the Ace 100 pipe. Easy ...

Doug, thanks to you, Roger and Tim for taking the time and initiative to provide us with the best results we have been provided to date. I appreciate your humor. Some of us here tend to get "over-wound" regarding topics so an attempt to interject some levity is appreciated, by me at least....

Needing a frame
I am in need of a solid, straight, undamaged early 93 frame. I have everything else, just no frame. Must have nice frame tag. Anybody? Contact me offline at my e-mail please. Thanks!

Won't swear to it but that wheel/hub set up looks like an early small bore Kawasaki. Maybe a KE or KS 100. Just my .02 cents worth.

Re: Spark help
OK, the purists here will not like this suggestion but in the old days it was common to drill the bottom of the shifter case (or even the center cases under the flywheel) to allow heat to escape (condensers love this) and allows the magneto case to "breathe". I'll try to post up some pics ...

Re: Too many questions!
Ken, Help me out a bit. I know I commented on one of the cylinders that was an early 2 bolt SR cylinder that had been finger ported for reeds. However, I went back and looked at the photo of the bike and it appears to be a standard Ace 100 cylinder with a reed valve. Which cylinder are you wanting t...

Thanks Dale. I've looked at several different pumps but none were the same. Do you have a particular place where you've seen them? I really appreciate the help. I'm hoping Max's friend John can come through - he's close!

Re: Too many questions!
Ken, If you use the head from the DS (which is also the stock Ace 100 head) you will need the "high dome" piston. The DS head has a a deep combustion chamber design and if used with the "low dome" 93 piston it will have very poor compression. On the other hand, if you use the Mod...

Re: Excel rims
Greg,
Just curious as to why you didn't use aluminum Hodaka rims. Say a 95,97,or 98 rears and a 95,97,98, or 71 front? Excels are EXPENSIVE. About 195.00 a copy aren't they?

Hi Ken!
I'll drop you a few lines tomorrow. Providing the engine that's in the project bike is in good mechanical working order (I see it's been reed valved) 50 mph should be attainable. I'm gonna spend some time looking over the pics.....

Re: 34mm conversion.
My guess would be the lack of pistons and rod kits led to the parting out of a lot of 03's. I realize that a 125 rod kit paired with a Road Toad crank will work but RT cranks must be getting scarce. Not long ago I had trouble finding a good useable crank. That's just my guess.

Thanks Max. I did have a website for 3 years but it didn't generate any real traffic to speak of so I closed it. As you can imagine (and remember, you only got a partial look!) I'm a bit overwhelmed and overrun in the small shop that I have now. Not to mention that I still need to move the rest of t...
