Re: Repaint or Not
Victor. I think I'd clean it up and then decide. If you are going to restore the whole bike I personally would redo the air cleaner to make the whole new package. Just me, not into patina. Personal choice, your bike, you asked! Maxie

Re: My milk crate is cooler than your's
Maybe. Plenty cool Larry but here's the real thing. This has gone to almost every race I've been in since 1965. Real manly metal, no cheap plastic here. This was old when I first started using it. Early on it was named the "Turkey crate" and was on the check list of pit equipment. Still in...

Re: old man going north
I saw the Old Man sneaking around in our woods yesterday. He never announces his April arrival during Morel mushroom season. He always slips in early and gets all of the good ones, then comes in to say hello. Ha, too late, Eweleen and I had massacerd a bunch just hours before and we ain't telling'. ...

I'm starting to think that it's time to re-design the rubber boot concept. Making rubber parts is difficult, plastic parts, not so hard. Probably some plastic transition piece with some standard based rubber ends or at least one end would be one idea. A kit of sorts. Not my problem at the moment but...

Re: old man going north
Hey Clarence! The Old Man passed through here a couple of days ago heading North he said. The grasshoppers are just hatching in Kansas and I sent him out to gather some samples for you. These are just hatched juveniles as you can tell by their wings but adults can grow to over 5 pounds. That's what ...

Re: Oil injection - Love it or leave it?
Olde school here. Ya gotta pour oil in somewhere where it mixes with the fuel to lubricate things. Lubricants belong in the fuel with the least amount of mechanization possible. As for racing, pumps use engine power to run them and pump fluids. Extra weight. Are you really going to haul extra oil du...

Good job Victor! That carb probably wouldn't have seen the light of day again. I've looked everywhere for that air screw and it may be here yet. Glad to be a small part of the project! Maxie

Re: Earles/leading link vs telescopic/OEM fork weight
Well, the Hodaka shed has thawed out. Here's about the same stuff off of a model 93 Super Rat, missing a brake arm and my one pound fork brace might be a bit lighter than the above fender mount. All of this weighs in at 21.0 pounds compared to the leading link at 22.2 pounds. Just as I suspected, ab...

Re: Ring gap question
I always start with, "If it was mine". Common happening. The gap will quickly get wider as it breaks in. I'd run the one you have for a while and then replace it with the next oversize and file to fit. Ok as is but you do lose a tiny bit of compression. On my short tracker of yesteryear th...

Still interested in this weight comparison thing and if I ever get un-frozen, I think I have a set of 93 forks scattered around the Hodaka shed that I can weigh with equal components. Be patient. Maxie

The 1/2" tap works fine. I did a Resonator article on this a few years back and we also discussed this method on the forum about the same time. No hammers or grease, a few turns on the tap and use a 1/2" bolt for the puller. Ah, here it is, Vol 2, #16.

Funny stories on the Bad Rock adventure. I'm still indebted to Dale for furnishing bikes, multiple plugs and a lever plus just watching over me. Just like the old days only everyone is riding half century old bikes. Not ten minutes into the ride and Dale is experiencing horrible clanking noises and ...

Resonator?
Yay, I always say, the new January Resonator came on my E-mail recently but doesn't appear on the Hodaka Club site. Am I the only one?
